Hyundai Accent GLE or Swift Dzire Vxi

Hi guys,

My uncle is looking for a sedan with a budget of 5.5 L OTR stretchable by 10-20 K. Cars we have shortlisted are

Hyundai Accent GLE
Maruti Swift Dzire

Things that will primarily influence buying decision would be reliability, FE and rear seat comfort as both cost almost the same. Resale should not be an issue as my uncle keeps his cars for long.

Pros for Accent
1. Big on space
2. Low on maintenance
3. One segment higher then Dzire

Cons
1. Outdated model
2. FE

Pros for Swift Dzire
1. Latest Model
2. Maruti Service Network
3. Cheaper Maintenance

Cons
1. Build quality (I saw that on many threads)

Expert advice would be much appreciated. (I have prejudice towards Hyundai as I own a Santro and a Verna)

Please also suggest any other sedan that falls in the desired price band.

You will need to advice your uncle about the huge waiting periods for a DZire! If waiting is not an issue, the its the DZire, hands down! The Accent is too old a car to be looking at now. Just my 2 cents.

I was under the impression that waiting period was for diesel models and not for petrol ones. However 1-2 weeks will not make much of a differece.

any idea on waiting period of petrol models

GO for the latest car without batting an eyelid. Its much more modern and I am sure your uncle will enjoy it a lot more. The only con is the waiting period.

PS: I think both of them belong to the same segment.

Both are different cars. DeZire is the latest car in the Indian market with a years waiting list.

Accent is a 7 yr old model which might be phased out in a year or two. For the money the Accent is being sold at I can tell you that it is sheer VFM. Excellent car without any problems. But Outdated it is. I consider it still a good looker.

Why can't you look at other cars also - Chevrolet Aveo, Fiesta 1.4.

I think Accent is one segment higher, and belong to the club of Fiesta, Verna, SX4, City etc , Dzire on the other hand belong to the segment of Logan, Indigo etc.

Dude i have the new accent
the FE in delhi city driving with ac on all the time is 13-14 KMPL
that i dont think is a con, when i bought the car the showroom said it'll give around 10-11 but i have been consistently getting 13-14 figures in the 3000KMS i have covered since feb in the car

Reliable & FE, Yes. But neither of the sedans you have shortlisted have comfy backseats. For that, I would suggest your uncle testdrives the:

1. Logan
2. Indigo
3. Aveo (good ride quality & interiors)

Accent is a good car but outdated model. Dzire seems to be the better choice. Not sure about the wait period though.

I would say the Accent, which at its current selling price is sheer VFM and you get everything, from power windows, defogger and nice good quality interiors.

Interesting. What additional features does it offer.

In my opinion, Accent is best among the 2. I doubt if that will be phased out soon. I see new ads coming up on Accent and Hyundai is trying to come back with Accent. Probably they did not get what they expected from Verna.

Logan looks like an option to me . I am really doubtful about indigo build quality, and aveo is outta budget.

Accent offers a bigger and more powerful engine, besides the fact that this car was replaced by Verna which is a price band higher than likes of Swift Dzire.

Swift dezire on the other has been positioned as replacement of esteem, which surely does not fall in the same segment as Verna.

Please do not get me wrong here, despite the fact that these car belong to different segments they are very much compareble in all aspects and hence this thread to decide on one of the cars.

IMHO i think the accent and the dzire belong to the same segment.Accent could be phased out soon and dzire is a new entrant, even looking at the features Dzire has more features than the accent like the integrated stereo etc.
My choice would be the dzire.
