Mahindra Logan: To buy or not

One of my friends works for Mahindra Group Companies. Currently they are having a scheme where in they have certain amount(150+) of Petrol and Diesel Logans (Brand new in all respects and with all quality checks passed) manufactured between Oct-Dec'07. They are giving following offer
1. around 90K discount on ex showroom price
2. 2-year extended warranty
3. 30-50% disc on the insurance premium
4. 30% disc on the accesories bought from authorised dealer.
All employees can send the application and based on the random draw, Cars would be alloted.

My friend is very tempted to buy the car as the onroad price after all discounts is easily less by around 1.5L and it still would be a brand new car but would like to know would it be a good idea to buy these logans since they are manufactured around 8-10 months back.

Its a very good deal. Your friend will only have trouble when he decides to sell this car. But not many people create a fuss over the manufacturing year.

It is a true 'special' which only company employees can apply for!
Ask your friend to go for it before it is too late.

Please ask your friend to go ahead with this offer and if the luck is with him he might be selected to get one.

The discounts are tempting everyone to buy one, do not worry about the manufacturing date and you are getting extra 2yrs warranty what else do you require

The base diesel after this much discount will be a very good value for money if you don't mind the ugly looks and poor interiors.

Check if at all these were Demo Cars that need to be sold to give way to new. That means you will have to check out the mileage and the tyre looks, seats, upholstery etc.
If not and if the car is in an unused condition the proposal appears to be quite OK.

These are not demo/test cars. They are brand new, unused condition although manufactured around 10 months back.

I wonder why they are unused/unsold even after 10 months of Manufacture? Also a car that is not frequently used degenerate much faster. especially batteries, tyres, engine and rubber parts.

This offer looks too good to believe at face value. There is something that needs to be explored. There is no reason to throw in so much discount on Logan, just yet.

I am not ready to accept that fact that cars manufactured in Oct - Dec '07 are still not sold, when there is so much of demand from both individual users and public transporters (Airport cabs in Bangalore).

Check for all the caveats and then go for it.
