when you are looking at performance you need a car thats light-weight.

instead of the lancer ,i think the palio 1.6 ,OHC or the baleno will make a better option.
As Iceman was saying, the performance parts for the palio are hard to get,so that leaves with only the OHC or the baleno.

of OHC and the baleno,i will go for the baleno as its still in production.and i think 16 inch rims can be easily fitted into the baleno.

but my first choice will always be the GTX.

Some more questions...

Is there a specific model of the Lancer that fits the best for the job
Does the Lancer have a V6 option
Whats the max HP/Torque for a Lancer

Is there a place where I could grab some tech specs on these..

Will Ford IKon stand a chance in this category...? Heard some good stuff about it

I don't think a V6 on a Lancer is needed coz even the Evo VIII FQ 400 has a 2ltr Inline 4, turbocharged engine producing 400bhp.

As for specifications try this : Mitsubishi Specs Select the car you need from the list.

The Baleno, apart from still being made, will cost a little less than the OHC (even though that will eventually, with the same mods, provide a slighlty higher final output) to modify and test. If your on a budget, then the Baleno is suggested.

Though somehow, the 1.6 GTX, I still think that the car is a bit too heavy. Even with its 100BHP stock output, if you start to strip the car and then modify it, then only do I think that it will make for a much quicker machine. However, the Palio parts are said to be very expensive, and not too easily available...

Your choice... its your budget dude!

cheers!

Lol Manson.
What i meant was that the Optra could handle 16 inchers.
Its not a performnce car however.
Baleno too will be good andcan be turbocharged from a person who deal in such modificatins not the DEALER.
eg - KS motorsport, performanceracingstore, Team motor works.
The thread started by Maybach may be of some use. (seriously).
If you want used, you can try the mondeo .. there are afew chips available but not a V6.
Even the OHC (i heard that Doms is producing close to 300 BHP).
If you can stretch to 16L then a modded RS (octavis rally sport) with some chips and all will do the job. It has a detuned version of Audis 1.8 Lt turbo.

From your list of preferances you have the following options :

1. 1.5 Lancer complete with the works including a KKK turbo, nos and brembos.
2. 1.8 Lancer with a Honda gearbox and tuned gear ratios, again with the works.
3. 1.6 Baleno with the works etc etc.
4. 1.8 Baleno.Iceman can help you on that.
5. Skoda vRS.It should be perfect with a new Garett turbo and some chip upgrades.
6. Mondeo with the works. It absolutely rocks!
7. Wait for the launch of the monster aka Civic.
8, And finally if the budget is not a constraint,a Mugen tuned Accord. And you attain.....Nirvana.

One most important thing, ignore exterior mods. They are an absolute waste.
All the above mentioned cars can literally do wonders for your requirements. But then it all depends on how deep is your pocket.Put your money down and watch the show.
