Engine bay protection is different from under carriage protection . Under carriage protection saves a car from damage due to ground clearance issues ( like going over high humps, etc ) .. the engine protection saves the car from gravels , stones , etc when the car is going through broken roads, say if you are on a Ladakh, Leh trip where the roads have lots of gravels which gets scattered round and act as mini projectiles when the car goes over them at reasonable speeds .
IMO under carriage protection is more important than the engine bay protection as you can save your engine bay by going slowly when driving on gravel strewn roads .

Re: New Honda City or Ford Fiesta 1.6S

Ok Guys. I have finalized Honda City CE. Will proceed for booking tomorrow or day after tomorrow. Expected delivery time is about 50 days. No discounts on City CE. What should I do to get them to throw in some discounts?

Hey Sarthak,

Since you mention the City CE, have you checked out the new Fiesta Ambiente P?

Dealer told me that Fiesta Ambiente P is produced in very limited numbers because of poor profit margins on it. Only 1 car is alloted to them in a month and currently they have a booking of 6 Ambiente P. This means I will be able to get Fiesta Ambiente P only in Feb 2013.

Besides, it has only one AirBag and far too many gizmos. I like cars (in general any machine or device) to be functionally simple with robustness and durability in critical components. (I donot listen to music at all in while driving. I like to hear the sound of engine more. )

Actually same is the case with City CE. Here also dealer said that only one car is allocated per month - and no discounts and schemes.

Congratulations on the purchase Sarthak. The City is one car that is boringly reliable and your reduced usage will keep it financially viable too.

Enjoy a million miles of driving and drive safe, will ya.
