As of the choice between Fiesta and the Logan, I choose Logan from what I have read.
And then, taxi walas can't go wrong in their choice of car, can they. I guess they see all the parameters like we do. It's just that the parameters may differ.

So what are you looking for, in your car, give it points for the parameters as from the repsonse from t-bhpians for both the cars

-Drivebility
-Engine
-On road price
-Space
-Suspension (comfort)
-Features
-Service
-ICE :-)
-etc
RAC, IMO ford's duratorq engine is better than Dicor ( gurus can correct me if i am wrong). Also its ikon and not fiesta
Here are the expectations.
-Drivebility - Good
-Engine - Obviously good
-On road price - below 6.5. The lesser the better. Leaves me money for ICE and accessories if any
-Space - decent.
-Suspension (comfort)
-Features - Not too feature crazy but pwr windows is required. Not worried if i dont get things like theatre dimming lights and mileage calculator and all.
-Service - Very important. Should have atleast decent service in Pune.
-ICE :-) - Both the options dont have ICE,so its the one that i will have to get
-etc[/quote] - Would have preferred safety but my budget does not allow for one with ABS etc.

Sorry, it was a typo.
You have your expectations from the car. Why not give rating points to each parameter between both the cars and the picture will become clearer.

for e.g. using your last response:
engine> ikon -1 , logan - 0

Just my suggestion.

Sir, I have driven all the 3 sedans to state my preference! The Ford Escort Diesel was as dumb as can be. The older 1.8 Diesel was a slouch that one could walk past it!

The TDCi is fords version of Common Rail and I'm aware of that. But the engine runs out of power too soon. Push a Ford on the highway and you'll know what I'm talking about. The car is good for 100 kph but thats it, maybe 120..

Sir, we are still right to have our opinion. One should "drive" the cars than read about them. Experience them in the city, on the highway etc, before posting, not the other way around!

I think, the ikon loses out on these two areas!

Not withstanding the opinions of headers, I can see all Ford owners ganging with support for the Ikon – you can add me to the gang! Well that is a great reason for you to choose the Ikon.

I would say go for the Ford TDCi.

I saw an Ad in the paper today saying it is offered at an intro price of 5.19 Lacs Ex Showroom Delhi. Now that is a really good price !! What other options do you have ? Indica Vista ? Logan will be at least a Lac more expensive.

I think the Swift Diesel is going to be in real trouble now.

Hyundai should think about this and start offering it's Accent in a diesle version also. See the sales chart rise then IMHO.

The only glitch is Ford's A.S Service, I have heard it is not so good compared to the other Auto Manufacturers.

The Engine is tops & FE will be amazing. I would overall highly recommend the Ford Ikon to you.

With regards to space, it depends on how much of space one is looking at. At the segment it operates, the Ikon has among the best of rear seat comforts and space. Although the Logan has more, it all depends on the requirement.

Coming to the suspension, the ride in an Ikon is comfortable to point of being satisfied, but anything more and the compromise would be made with the handling, which is more tuned towards a driver's machine.

Hope that clears the doubt on these fronts.

Don't know about Logan but know very well about Ikon as I have been driving Flair from last 3 and half years. The car has superb suspension; it handles our Indian roads very well. About the space, it has got a very big boot along with the rear seat and not only that the smart curve in the dash provides very nice space for the co-driver seat also. You've got to sit to believe. Not only space the seats nicely hug you around to give the nice comfortable feel.

Its a zero trouble car, no chi-cha noise till yet, nice AC and other features. Car profile is such that you feel very secure and sturdy even at speeds of 140 and above. I have done 170 in Flair and the road ended. I hope they haven't changed these things in the new version. Highly recommended car for cities and highways.

Sir, In which gear did you do the 170? I'm a bit puzzled here The Ikon Flair is a 1.3 engine right?

My vote if for Ford Ikon TDC - Known tested engine. Definitely will provide more mileage than Fiesta.

I own Fiesta TDCi for past 2 years. I have not faced any kind of service issues so far.

Its a Ford, not a Maruti. Its totally do-able. Ikon 1.3 Rocam was always a fast car.

I agree that Ikon 1.3 Rocam engine is peppy, but i guess Max speed rating for it is around 160Kms/hrs.

Its a nobrainer. TDCi

a. Uber engine.
b. Lovely driving pleasure. logan isnt fun to drive.
c. Driving comfort. I found Logan front seats sucky. HORRIBLE for my back. Swift on the other hand has lovely front seats.
d. Resale you're a loser both sides any which ways

Ikon - "old lady with a new set of false teeth" + high cost of maintainance
Logan - "New wine in new bottle" + "first class" cabin space
I enjoy the Logan drive from BIAL Airport to city every time I come to Bengalooru
My recommendation - go for the Logan

I have seen people on the forum claiming top speed of 145+ in a Santro 1.1 ( Zipplus, ERLX), so why not 170kmph in a Ford Ikon.

It is quite possible

Yes, that is true - from my personal experience I can vouch for the 145kmph on the santro.

I have even heard of 170+ on the 1.3L swift.
So maybe it is possible on the Ikon too.
