Hi friends,

I got an offer for 2005 Model, 70000KM driven Elantra CRDI @ 5 Lakhs.I really like this diesel sedan because of it's spaceous and want to keep it for 2 yrs.

It will be great if any one can answer the following Queries???

Is it worth buying this Car at this price????
I heard that CRDI's keep giving troubles after 100000 KM's is it True?????? If not What will be it's Engine Life???
What would be the maintenance Cost from this 70K mark ????
Will Spares be a problem for this discontinued car????
There is an oil leakage and ABS light is not working. How much it's going to cost???

Elantra is a lovely car. I think we have similar kms clocked cars selling for around the same, so the price seems ok. For better info on the car why don't you get in touch with our member tadukuttan? He should be able to assist you better with all your queries.

Manne,

The price is about right for the car, maybe 5-10% higher than normal.
. The engine is good for 200k kms. No issues. The horror stories that you hear are for the accents 3 cylinder engine that had some inherent issues. On the four pots nothing that we know of. Ensure that the car is serviced regularly.

If you like to drive fast this the best bang for the buck in the country.
Best option is to go to any hyundai dealer and pull up the service history of the car. That will tell you what has happened on it.

The 80k service is major, with suspension components and clutch replacement. Budget 50k for it.

Thanks a ton for the reply's.Basing on your inputs it will be worth buying it @ 4 Lakhs and invest 50,000 on this.

4L would be a good price, but check on the last serviced/replaced components & budget accordingly. Suggest you to visit a hyundai showroom and get to know the prices of various elantra parts once for your satisfaction :). In other words, if you are conscious of expenses, get a feel what you may have to shell out shortly (clutch, timing belt, electricals etc which may need a revisit soon) by finding out their prices. Its not cheap.
