confusedguy, please do take a look around the forum regarding the Octavia. Have read somewhere that the 80K service cost for the Octavia is a killer with major parts being replaced. So most people turn back the odo and try to pass it off as a car that has done lesser mileage.
As for FE do you drive that many kilometres to make you want to get a diesel? If not then go for a good OHC (Honda reliability) or a Baleno (widespread A.S.S).

Dont even think of an Skoda.

IT will cost more than it sold to maintain!

As your budget is low, putting the same amount for maintenance will let out bloody tears.

So, its better to go fo an accent. If FE is a worry, make it CNG. the most sensible & practical car in its class.

Stay away from Skoda unless you are prepared to pay huge amounts for service & replacement costs. Like Dippy said, get a Japanese car, OHC or a Baleno or an Esteem in that order and you will have peace of mind. Ikons will also make you spend once they cross 40k kms.

Dude go in for a Baleno, u wont regrett.

I was in same confusion about six months back. I got a 2005 baleno with 50000 kms for 2.5L in mumbai. I spent 40K and converted it to CNG (with tap and all the gadetry). I get an average of 24kms with no drop in performacnce. No major issues regarding servicing and maintaineance as its a maruti.

To sum it up: Buy a baleno and if CNG or LPG available in your town / city got for the dual fuel conversion.

OK checked out this Baleno today had some minor scratches here and there other than that seems alright and it also comes with an lpg kit and ugly alloys. He s not ready to go below 2.75L . Should I take it, considering the cost of the lpg kit? No mp3 player though.

Go for it. You will never regret driving a baleno !!
but sad to know that my car wont get even half its price, IF I WERE TO SELL !! (considering the fact that i just finished the EMI on it!)

now all the more determined to complete 2,00,000 kms on it. :-)

In my opinion, go for the baleno with no hesitations. She is a good car to drive and you will enjoy her.
