Used Civic for 8 lacs?

I am looking for a used Honda Civic in Bangalore.

Came across a few cars in carwale and enquired with a few of them. Most of them are listed in the range of 10 to 11 lacs, however most dealers mentioned that there is "tremendous" scope for negotiation.

My budget is about 8 to 9 lacs. What other reliable options do I have on this? My requirements are as follows.

1. Model: Stock Honda Civic 2007 or 2008 model
2. AT preferred, though not averse to MT if I get good deals
3. Not very particular about V or S trims. Not looking for E trim.
4. Mileage must be less than 20k kms
5. First owner preferred even though I am ok with company lease/transfers

Hi, what you are asking (2007/8 model with <20K mileage) is a rare thing to get under 8/9 lacs.

However its an excellent car, worth going for, but beware of low FE (especially AT: may be around 8 KMPL).

Also reconsider the decision, if you have to drive frequently on bumpy low (because much debated low GC)

Consider used Corolla also.

Best of luck for finding a good car.

I guess you'll have to stretch your budget beyond 9L to get a 2007 MT. Be informed of the poor low end torque (pain in b2b traffic), ok mileage (8~9KMPL) and low GC (will scrap every speedbreaker in B'lore).

The going rate for 2007 Civic with less than 20k kms is between 7 to 7.5 Lakhs here in Chennai. There aren't many takers in this segment.

It is worthwhile to go for a used Civic. However, carwale is not exactly a reliable site (as one of my friends has found out). He also knew of someone who bought a 2007 Civic in mid-2008 for 8 lakhs.

Hi all, I am aware of all the advantages and drawbacks and have driven Civic quite a lot at my home town and while abroad.

I managed to talk to some more second hand car dealers and the best offer I've got so far is an 04/08 Civic V AT with 9800 kms for 8.75 lacs. According to him, Civic AT is selling cheaper than MT in second hand market due to poor demand and lower FE. Still on the lookout though...

This seems to be more or less a brand new car, as a bad owner would not have got much chance to spoil it. Price seems OK, tough you may be a better judge. If you really want the Civic, close the deal since a low-mileage car is not often on the used car market.

I have heard of good civics being purchased by dealer at 7 in Mumbai.
So, for 7.5l you should be able to pick one from a dealer.

Due to the recession the second hand car market is in tatters.

Contact autoterrace. They are a part of the autohanger (linkway honda) group. they sell "pre-owned" cars with a warrantee as well. Complete peace of mind.

Actually there are many low mileage Civics in second hand market, here in Bangalore. However the price expectations are mostly upward of 9 lacs for cars less than 2 yrs old. Most of the dealers are saddled with a large inventory of used cars, mainly big ones such as Innova, Civic, Corolla, SUVs etc. They find it easier to find buyers for smaller cars. Also one guy told a logic that at least 10,000 IT people have lost their jobs in Bangalore and hence there is a big push to sell cars and homes/apts.. Dont know the truth...
