Defintely you are quoting a very low price here, untill and unless the car has been badly abused.
61K kms + 03 Vtec car is definetely more pricey than 1.7L

I would suggest picking up OHC, as with tight budgets accord maintaince will be an headache for you in longer run. However, why not look out for more OHCs they are plentyful available in market.

OT: 1.7L - Honda VTEC 61K Kms ??? You must be joking else you are looted.

m askin tis so tht if there is nt much diff between them then i can think over my budget once again n modify it if need be.
thanx
The 2003 OHC should cost you around 2.5L you can further try to get it down by 20-25K for the spoiled outer asthetics. An OHC overcoat would cost 30-40k.
As for the Accord the one we bought is a 2006 model did cost us 10L a year back.
I'm not sure of the 2002-03 prices but a good maintained one should be for around 5L from a dealer (can't bet on it).
If you are planning to go in for an Accord then make sure of the work pending on it cause spares are quiet expensive and you are in trouble if the car asks for maint. after shedding 4-5L for it.

Where in hell are you guys finding Vtecs for such a low price? I am yet to come across a single quote of less than 4.5L for a Vtec in Bangalore.

Impossible to get a really clean OHC Vtec for less than 3.75 - 4.50 lakhs. Sure, there are some examples going around for 3.0 lakhs...but the key word here is "clean". I've been offered in the range of 4.0, thrice, for my '03 OHC Vtec in the recent past.

What I would suggest to the thread starter : Consider an OHC 1.5 or a Baleno. You'd easily get a well-maintained example for 2.5 lakhs, spend the balance 50 grand in getting her back to shape.

I would personally prefer a Skoda Laura L&K (used) if I could get one and of course if I were actually asked to make a choice between an used Accord and an Old Honda City.

Buy a new car and lead a peaceful driving life. Or look for any maruti second hand.

Get a baleno. You might be able to get ice and tires too within your budget.

If a OHC dosent come below 3L then personally I wouldnt be interested in it. Whats the point in going for a used car if you are not getting VFM.

There are always people who are fond of certain vehicles that they will pay anything to get it. My friends 2000 model qualis 2nd owner and police auctioned vehicle was offered 5.5 laks which he actually got for 3 laks.

Well, the OHC Vtec may not be VFM, but if I were looking for a 4 lakh used sedan, it would be one of my top choices. It's an absolute maniac to drive, has the most communicative steering this side of the 5 series, crazy revv-happy engine, is steadfast reliable and very very cheap to own (great FE, low service cost and durable parts). But yes, as you rightly posted, only a certain segment of the market would be willing to pay a premium for it.

With your budget, I`d suggest you put the accord out of your thoughts and focus on getting the cleanest, most well maintained (OHC1.5,VTEC,Baleno) within 3 Lakhs. Then try and add whatever you want as and when you can. The key to having a clean car(daily driver, not vintage or 4X4 jeep) is buying clean, eventhough buying a rubbish heap and getting it up to scratch sounds quite romantic!

I think baleno is a good opetion, for 3L you will get a single owner 06 baleno atleast. But considering that you have pretty much made up your mind about either of the two hondas, then maybe go for the V-tec, but you can easily get a better condition one for about 2.5L and as far as I know, accord for 3L is highly unlikely.
