Sedan for the CowBelt

Hi I am looking for a sedan that will be driven in one of the cities of the cowbelt with a daily run of about 100 kms.

The requirements are
-1. Should be able to dart in and out of the traffic with ease (largely autos, trucks, riff-raff)
-2. A good road presence so as not to be bullied by the Scorpios , Innvoas, Sumos and the diesel autos
-3. Able to handle pot-holed road
-4. 20% chauffer driven , 80 % self
-5. No higway driving (or maybe once in 2years)
-6. Fuel Efficient (Diesel ?)
-7. Budget < 10 L

I have shortlisted the Verna CRDI SX , Dzire ZDI , or wait for some more launches ?

All points out to Fiat linea multjet diesel Emotion pack.

Other choices may be Verna CRDI, Dzire ZDI

For 100 km/day it is going to be only diesel

2 Options:
Fiesta D,
Linea D.

The Verna will not be able to dart in and out of traffic as easily as these two, though it will outperform them on the highway.
The Fiesta is the easiest to drive, and I don't see too many people bullying it.
The Linea will be the most comfortable, and the best looker, as well as very good VFM.
However, for a drivers car, that can take some abuse, is very zippy around the town, the Fiesta wins handsdown!

How about an Innova or a Xylo? If you cannot beat them join them. Both esp. Innova is built like a tank, has a road presence, but not overpowering like a SUV.

A linea was also on my mind but the following did not make me consider it
1. Low Ground clearance
2. Huge turning radius
3. With that 1.3 multi-jet can it really dart in and out and give the instant acceleration required for cowbelt traffic ?

Lamborgini - >
With that powerful engine I am under the impression that only the Verna will have that instant pickup required to shoulder your way into the gaps offered in traffic flow - why you consider it unable to dart in and out ? - the handling or the low end power ?

sgiitk - > I am only considering an executive sedan given my profile as an industrialist

Consider Dzire Zdi - reliable, VFM package with excellent fuel efficiency, great to drive.

Nothing beats the Fiesta D for darting in and out of traffic. A Verna may not be that fun to drive in the city. That's just my opinion after driving one a couple of times. Dzire is a very competent all rounder as well but I hear there is a long waitlist.

All these statements are largely true. Can it handle the roads in our cowbelt.

My suggestion will be the Fiesta. Fiesta is a hoot to drive and darting in and out of traffic will not be a problem. Pretty fuel efficient and well within your price bracket.

@Goswami, your requirements list is very precise, unique to the forum but common among Indians.
Strictly among the sedans, I would want to suggest Linea deisel but as you said cow belt, considering this bumps/scratches could be common. So, a car with easy/cheap maintenance suits. Im pointing towards Dzire here.

Otherwise, Xylo would be a good option to shoo away those autos/ricks/pedestrians.

no highway drive no verna period , Fiesta D to your rescue.
As an industrialist you may want to look at the Octy as well. but for the service availability in the cow belt.and as an industrealist you may not want to look at the Dzire it competes with the riff raff that you talked about on the looks front.

Budget Sedan (VFM): Dzire LDi OR Fiesta D OR Logan

Premium Features Sedan: Verna Diesel SX OR Fiat Linea Diesel OR the new Dzire ZDi

Premium Features + Pure Power (under 10 lakhs): Verna Diesel SX only!

I suggest you take a test ride in each one and decide what you like.
