and regarding the chassis- that's the INTEGRAL part of any car..!!! you can mod the engine, change the engine, do the suspension, and what not- but if the chassis isn't stiff enough, it'll still be a rolling bowl of jelly on a track - potential, is the key word; and modding the chassis, somehow doesn't always work well. which is why i look for the OVERALL package - i need the car to do well on a track as well; man, quarter mile times or sheer speed isn't everything- you need to have a proper chassis on a track to bring that trophy home...

Wont the Palio 1.6 do that better then the Swift! But i still love the Swift and i am sure that you will mod it to be one hell of a machine! I can see vtec owners sweating now!

p.s- have you actually ripped the swift, before commenting on it's dynamics..?? i suggest you do so, and i'm sure you'll appreciate the potential in the li'l bugger....

Yeah driven it! The thing is that after driving an Esteem it cant be believed that it has the same engine! The weight of the Swift kills its pickup! but then not that bad also but if you compare to the GTX then its difficult to appreciate! LOL. But the brakes are good and so is the ride and handling! But rear seat not so good! Car looks a stunner none the less!

The stock VTEC will anyway cleanly beat the baleno because it develops its 106 bhp at 5000rpm and can cleanly rev till 7000,,its well known that Honda engines are one of the best free revvving engines ,,and the baleno develops its 94 at 6500 rpm,,plus the additional 100 kgs weight ,,the smaller 13 inch wheels,,no alloys ,no spoiler,,IN SHORT (NO CONTEST), Honda rules

difference in weight is nil..both vehicles came with 13 inch tyres to the best of my knowlege (at least the City was 175/70 R 13...was the VTec different??)
just for the record....in terms of wheel size...Baleno has a larger wheel diameter then either the old (175/70 R 13) or the new (175/65 R 14) honda city...

VTec developed peak powe @ 6800 rpm and not 5000 rpm...
Spoilers do not help increase top speed....
the fact remains that a stock VTec is faster...on the other hand..in the modded form..Balenos are faster!!!

everything being stock...where does the palio 1.6 gtx stand in contest with the vtec and the baleno.....
i mean its got a damn neat engine and i guess it will weigh a bit less then the two..and aslo its got 14 inch ....... cause i drove it once to pune and i jus remeber it being real fast.......
dont really like small casr but i think it rocks...whats ur take on this ??????

Hey xtreme buddy! The Palio 1.6GTXis a good fast vehicle, but its not as fast as the vtec, yes it will whip a Baleno but not aa Vtec. It reaches 100 in 11.19 as comapred to Balenos 11.57(ACI figures) and its 100bhp as opposed to Baleno 94bhp, BUttt one dont forget small doesnot mean light, this car weighs much much heavier then the Vtec as well as the Baleno, leading to drastic FE!

Palio is heavier than the two.

Palio engine is really powerful dohc screamer but its the weight that pulls it down highly. the vtec is the lightest followed by the baleno.

But the palio is stronger than both the other cars.

according to my memory the vtec is 975, baleno 985 and palio 1.6 is 1080

The thread actualy shoudve been GTX vs baleno coz Vtec is pretty much faster than both...Infact even with a 1.5second handy baleno cannot take a Vtec in 1/4th mile(stock) but its lil less for the gtx!

I would bet on that! Vtec is way superior! Thats the reason Baleno was born after the demise of the Vtec! People preferred the 1.5 to th baleno since the 1.5 is also fast and its on par with the Baleno! talking about 1.5 not Vtec!
