Found a Used City EXI 2006 Nov Model done just 8k Kms Genuine - Suggestions please?

Hi Friends,

I was looking out for a Honda City and found one in my known circle,

Please find the details below,

Model - Nov 2006 /Coimbatore
Kms - 8500 kms - Genuine
Owner - Single (CEO of a Textile firm - he uses his company car mostly)
Condition - Excellent
Points to Note - No stereo,Sun control film, etc. in simple words looks like straight out of showroom with just seat covers

Service details :
1st service - Dec 2006
2nd service - Feb 2007
3rd service - Oct 2007
4th service - Dec 2009

thats it. My only concern is the service interval. All the services he availed were all periodic service i mean not based on the kms clocked.

This car is for my friend who will clock only 300-500 kms/month thats it.

My queries are :
  1. Should he go for this?
  2. If yes whats the max he can pay?
  3. What the average maintenance cost of Honda city/10k kms?

I have least idea regarding petrol cars.. the only one i had was a M800, From there on switched to diesel..So request your valuable suggestions.

please share your opinions at the earliest.

The pricing may be found from carwale.com; there's a link for used car calculator. This is fairly accurate.
I would recommend you to take the car to the Honda service center and have it checked.
Check the Insurance documents for any accidents - major if any.
The average cost of maintenance would be 2-5K with complete oil change.

I guess this should be a good buy if everything above works out.

regards,

Nitin.

Certainly worth considering

1. Check for the IDV value, Insurance claims etc
2. Check with the Honda dealer where the car used to get servcied about the history of the vehicle, get it inspected once for any issues
3. check for the finance/hypothication etc

based on it you can decide on the price

regarding maintenance, my ANHC is just completing 1 year
Per service expenses till now has been ~ RS 2700/- inclusive of oil change etc.
Considering the vehicle would go for servicing 3 times per 2 years you may calculate the cost of service.

hope this helps.

Thereal - Having owned and experienced one for around 3 yrs/50 K kms, i can share with you that its one of the best cars we've ever owned. The fit & finish, interior quality, NVH levels, fuel consumption, ease of driving, seating comfort etc are outstanding

Coming to your questions:- (8500 kms is almost nothing)
  1. Should he go for this?
The huge interval of 2 years between the service is not good. Was it at least being used on & off ? Insurance history ? Can you get the same checked with the authorized Honda dealer ? Has the car been test driven ? How about the condition of the tires ? Would be difficult to hazard a guess without seeing the car & evaluating the condition !

2. If yes whats the max he can pay?
Experts, please comment !

3. What the average maintenance cost of Honda city/10k kms?

Hardly anything, regular service including oil change excl. wheel balancing etc would not exceed INR 2K ! Watch out for accident repairs though !

It looks like they have occasionally used the car for shorter drives,
I test drove the car, Literally i felt like driving a car just out of showroom, starting from the smell , except for a creek kind of sound coming around the front right suspension,It gave thud sounds on bumps too.
The tires looks like new (just 8.5k)(i believe rubber has expiry date, not sure though)
I will better take the car to the show room for evaluating. thanks buddy...
