Sedan option with 60:40 Folder Back Rear Seats

Hi BHPians!
I am lookign to buy a pre-owned Sedan below 3.5 Lacks and my hard requirement is that it must have 60:40 fold back seats so that Boot space could be extended till the front seat's end.

I need to carry radio controlled model Airplanes and the rear seat + Boot should provide enough space for 4 foot long planes.

Ultra Stand - RC Aircraft Maintenance, Transport and Storage Stand - JL Power Products

The plane in the above picture is longer than I intent to carry (the car is a wagon anyway)

I have been keen on Lancer and Honda City Exi, but guess they don't have fold back seats. I an not much interested in Hatchback else WagonR/Figo would have been great.

list Sedan variants having 60:40 fold back seat would help me decide.

Thanks in advance.

Hey Ujjwaana,

A wagonR is a perfect car for a aero modeller for a budget around 3.5 lakhs.

As an aeromodeller my self .. i used to take my 50cc aircraft in a honda city.. if you dont use that stand.

i too have the same criteria for buying a new car.. may be the new laura some time later...

For 3.5 lakhs, your best bet is the Chevrolet Optra. Yes, it does have 60:40 split rear seats and a larger cabin area to boot. The Optra depreciates like stink; this is to your advantage as it'll be easy to find a later model with low mileage. Excellent ride comfort, good build, nice cabin and decent road manners. Of course, it wont please the enthusiast in you (say, 0 - 100 runs nor is it too much fun to drive), yet the Optra makes for a heck of a used car buy. The Korean engineering results in excellent reliability too.

Shop around. Lots of them used Optras on the block. The 1.6 is as good as the 1.8, so don't fret over the engine size.

if you ask me buy any car with folding seats and convert it to 60/40. most seats have locks on both sides anyway, so if you get a good upholstery person it wont really be a big job. just my opinion.

if you wanted to buy a VFM sedan go ahead with Optra VGIS.
The only negative side of it is mileage.
1.6 gives decent average in comparision with 1.8.

The Indigo doesn't have split seats, but it has double folding seats that fold up neatly ti the front seat. The Marina would have the most space in this regard, and would be easier to take stuff in and out of having a rear hatch.
