Sound too good to be true. For a fact I know this is hardly possible. He will have to keep his search on for years.
7 year old esteem will come for around 1.5 lakh or even cheaper.

7 year old baleno will also come around 1.75 lakh or so.

7 year old city 1.5 (non-vtec) will also come for around 2 lakhs.

All prices mumbai.

Its very difficult to maintain a car which is more than 10yrs. You will understand only if you own a 10yr old car and then a brand new car. You will realize how your visits to a mechanic shop had become just twice a yr deal compared to the every month/ week visit with a 10yr old car.
If you are not bothered by few extra noise, rusting, scratches, dirt and purely gonna squeeze the last blood and trash the machine for nothing at the end of another 2-3yrs without putting in any money on it, may be you can think about it.

Point is no one every should buy a 10yr old car which is done more than 60-70k K.M. just because it comes cheap. I believe so.
Are you talking about yesteryears Ambassdors and Padminis?

10 years / 50K km is not even mid age for Japanese cars.
And the part which I have made bold - you need to check out the brand new cars - you WILL need to spend on those aspects EVEN if you bought a brand new car in mint condition.

In 2-3 years all items that are susceptible to wear-and-tear WILL eventually wear out.

I wanted to buy an old Honda city V-Tech. How long a V-Tech engine can be used without major problems.
I have seen a 2002 model city below are the details

2002 Model
88000kms
Blue Colour
3rd owner
Accident free
TN regd

How much i should offer? Owners expectation is 2.6L

I am not sure if the Honda City is a good machine to do 185/207....if you drive on tracks yes, but on Highways this is suicidal.

Just yesterday on Pune Mumbai Expressway I say a Civic TOTALLED..

My recco for Honda City no more than 120...

Please drive safe

MPFI Esteems are now available for under a lakh. Even if you want the pick up the last Esteem that rolled off the production line, you will get it for less than 1.8 Lakh.

Re: Buying an old Honda City Vtec

Hi All,

Need your inputs on this. I have seen a Feb 2003 OHC VTech at a used car dealer in Mumbai with the details below.
  1. 58000kms run
  2. 2nd owner (Guy probably in late 50s, he purchased about 2 yrs ago and have sparingly run about 5K kms only, now selling because bought new City)
  3. Third party insurance
  4. Italian Lovato CNG kit fitted, by first owner 4yrs back.
  5. Rustfree and clean interiors/exterior.
  6. Original honda alloys, 4 tyres changed in late 2008. Stephny is original 2003 from Honda
  7. ICE is in decent condition.
  8. AC works well.
  9. Test drive was good, just some sluggishness while idling and racing from standstill (understandable since running on CNG)
  10. One problem which owner mentioned is its Engine Check light remains on. Although he says it did not cause him any other problems. This might be an O2 sensor issue mentioned on other threads.
  11. Asking price INR 1,95,000.

This is my observation, CNG kit definately needs some tuning and a regular service is required. But I would like to get it thoroughly checked by some good VTech mechanic.

Can somone give me contact details of any reliable OHC mechanic, who I can take with me for checkup?
Also what should be my quote to the dealer if all turns out good?

Thanks in advance,
Vinay
