Guide on Unique Train Journeys

I thought it would be helpful to fellow team members if we have an exclusive thread with info/updates on select Train Journeys.
(Excluding regular domestic trains within india)

I plan to travel to Malaysia / Thailand along with family in Aug, The International air tickets are booked from India/Kaula lampur and back.

Within Malyzia / Thailand there is this following train option which is supposedly adventurous and scenic too. Any feedback from anyone who has taken this journey Or part of it would be very helpful.

Route :Kuala Lumpur > Penang > Bangkok.

Though its a single ticket there are the following 3 breaks included in the journey.
1. Butterworth -> You need to get off the train and get onto a ferry, Then again continue on another train
2. Arau -> 2nd ferry
3. Chumphon -> 3rd ferry

On the ferry I think 2 are by sea and 1 by river. So any feedback from anyone whether this is enjoyable or a waste of time would be much appreciated.
