AT , so maybe .. I've seen a late 97 model (pretty good condition) lying around at a used car dealer with no takers even at around 80K I think ..

Didn't the Astra get a MPFI engine upgrade at some point ? Would that be after 2000 ? If so, it's probably not worth buying.

No,not worth it at all.

No no no, as a Astra owner from the last 7 years and just as long as 8 months ago sold, believe me its not worth it. Parts are very very expensive and not easily accesible. Ive had friends with problems of the auto box.
Although a very good car it did cost us a lot of money whenever problems occured. Also, parts were few and far between, i remember changing the radiator fan for Rs.11000/- when it got busted by a rock from underneath among other things.
While it is a good car in terms of suspension, build quality, interior comfort. Still a second hand one would not be a good deal.

As an ex-Astra owner myself, I echo everything Beeman has said. Stay away from it. And 1.8 lakhs is way too high anyway.

Thanks Friends, for being friends and giving a valuable advice:)
