Re: Team-BHP App for your Android Phone & Tablet

Switched over to TBHP iOS App recently, after having used the android app ever since it was launched.

The experience on iOS App is much better than the Android app. It is much more feature rich too.

Re: Team-BHP App for your Android Phone & Tablet

The sync between Mobile app and the website does not work for me. If I read all the unread posts on my mobile and login into the website, I still see them as unread on the website.

Sorry if this has been reported already.

Re: Team-BHP App for your Android Phone & Tablet

I see that our app has hogged my battery today - CPU on time was 38 minutes; that too when I had not used the app in the morning at all (which also is abnormal, but let's not get into that ).

Any idea why??

Problem with layout on Nexus 5 running Android 4.4. Bottom bar is cut in half. Problem is only in forum view, thread view is fine.

For users with multiple unread private messages (multiple quotes on the same thread) is inconvenient to read each message separately. Can't we swipe between messages, without having to press back and then selecting the next message?

I have some idea regarding this.
You have 79% of battery left. Used battery is 21% in 5 after your last charge. Your task list suggests you have not used anything else and team-BHP app has used 31% of the used battery life.
Actual usage is (21*31)/100 = 6.5%) of total battery life. You used the app for 38 minutes. So with further caculation if you use the app for 100/6.5 X 38= 584 minutes your cell will be completely exhausted.
Its almost 10 hours of continuous usage. If you have not used any app your consumption would have been 85%. Your standby time would be 5 hrs * (100/(100-85)) = 33 hours. I would say the battery consumption looks OK.
Open a simple news reader or a broswer (NTDV, Flipboard or Chrome) which primarily does similar activities as of team-bhp app (data transfer and somestatic UI rendering). They almost eat the same battery. If they don't then we need to do some tuning for the team-BHP app.
If they are simmilar would not sweat on this.

.. and yes you guessed correct. I am a software capacity guy.

Thanks for the detailed analysis, Ohh!Oxygen (interesting handle, btw :-) )

The thing is, I had not used the T-BHP app at all that day, so whatever battery consumption occurred was due to background running. Hence I was a bit surprised.

That is interesting.

Looking at the battery spent on screen I made the assumption that you were using it for 38 minutes.
38 minutes was CPU Total or Keep Awake? If its keep awake then its a bug for sure! Unless a user is requesting for data there is no reason why the app should do any background activity at all.

A small suggestion.... The app could be updated to include a night mode, where the Black text on white background could be inverted to white text on Black background. The white background gets harsh on the eyes during night reading

Problem is not specific to Nexus 5 but Android 4.4 KitKat. It's happening on my Nexus 7 too.
