Re: Team-BHP App for your Android Phone & Tablet

Glad you guys like the update to the App! The iPhone's updated App should also be available shortly.

As it's just rolled out, there are some tweaks pending to make it perfect. We'll be taking care of these over the coming days.

Ok. GTO's last reply was shown on the previous page and also the next page. Also I am not getting push notifications of thread updates.

Re: Team-BHP App for your Android Phone & Tablet

I was hoping the forum to be listed in the Tapatalk generic application. But its not, at least in the Tapatalk Windows Phone app. Was it intentional?

Awesome update, the whole look and feel has changed and it looks so fresh and inviting. Niggles will be there but in terms of usability and accessibility it's way ahead of the old app.
Kudos to the team:thumbup:

Click on More in the top right corner present on the app's home page and select settings. Tick the Dark mode option and you will get the black theme.

@dZired I only see three options: Mark forum as read, By name (what's this for btw?) and something else. No Options or Settings.

Love the new app, the look and the functionality! Coming from iPhone, I had found the old app cumbersome and lacking a lot of features, and had resorted to using only the desktop version. Not anymore

Thanks guys!

Upgraded the app in my nexus 7 and it is awesome. I lost the shortcut though. Not sure how to bring it back.

Haven't figured out how to thank a post yet. :-(

Edit: got the shortcut back after uninstalling and installing the app again.

@IronHawk thanks. I was clicking on the Home option from the list and missed the right side menu completely. Have followed your advice and am now on the black theme. One question: does the black theme conserve battery power by not lighting up the whole screen?

My guess would be yes. More brighter the background, more power would be consumed (to show those areas brighter) and bigger the screen, more the power drain.

I updated yesterday night, looks better than the old one. But whenever I open the app how do I make it to show the subscribed threads like in the previous version. Also noticed that some threads show as unread even after it is opened .

Liked the new app except for :
1) I can see only 2 lines of the content typed - this hampers the sentence formation abit.
2) I can't find a way to 'Thank' any post.
3) Ads in the center of the page are really irritating.

The tapatalk app : there seem to be a few posts missing.

Off topic, but as I learned from a geek - it is not completely true. The modern OLED, AMOLED and Retinas are different breed. They have much more efficient ways to illuminate screen and the difference caused by color combination is so small that you can ignore it. But there is one catch here. When you use Auto brightness on the smartphones, the sensor to detect ambient light kicks in very frequently. That consumes some power! More if you are looking at screen while moving through where light intensity varies!

EDIT - Just as I posted, looked for reference. And here is what comes up -

Should only be two screen technologies that matter: emissive and transmissive. AMOLEDs and derivatives are emissive - using darker background and theme will save juice. LCD and derivatives are transmissive and only turning down the brightness will help.

Most current AMOLED phones though, reduce color space when you turn the brightness down. For instance, take a picture of the sky, then turn down the phone brightness, and watch the smooth blue gradations block up as the color count drops (easy to demonstrate on GSII and GSIII). This appears to be because they reduce brightness digitally, which reduces the overall color gamut. Of course, phone-based AMOLEDs look like cartoons anyway, so maybe it won't bother anyone.
