Mitsubishi Galant - which unfortunately isn't as galant as the name.
Mercury Marauder - get the hell out of its way before it slaughters you (well, maybe this name was kind of apt for the car in a certain way - it was a 'beast' of sorts.).
cars named Spyder - i can't find a meaning for this name. is it meant to be a twisted spelling of Spider trying to be "cool"?

Petra is actually an ancient town, located in present-day Jordan, that flourished trading in spices. Automobile names are all funny if one sees it from a global perspective, in the sense a car name in China would be oddball to someone in India, and the other way round. Or one would have to go for names like BMW, Merc and Audi do.......simple technical terms like 5 Series, E Class or A6, for instance. Even Lamborghini names their cars after famous fighting bulls......try that in India with some bull or cow name. Ferrari's 'Testarossa' means red cam cover, Porsche's 911 would mean a call for help. Manufacturers must be naming their cars after doing pretty good research of the target market. Or something to do with heritage. Just my 2c.

Petra is in Jordan - its a major tourist attraction famous for its cliffside caves. Very beautiful, too - except that the women are more beautiful to look at.

How come you guys missed the Maserati Quottroporte? I mean, couldnt they think of anything more interesting than "4-door"?

I suppose their next model would be called '1 boot' and then '1 bonnet' and so on till they get to '4 wheels'

How about the Ferraris?? Maranello, Enzo, etc etc.

After all these names have no meanings and are as good or as bad as Edsel!

And the Lamborghini Murceilago and the other Lambo..

How about the Maruti ZEN?

Look at Bikes in India - CD 100 Dawn/ Deluxe/ etc etc? Super Splendor? Libero? CBZ?Shaolin?

Makes no sense to the readers.
