Re: The Football Thread

Yep. And John Stones costs upward of 40 million. Heck, I am not able to buy him for 25 million in FIFA 16.

I really, really love the optimism and positivity of Arsenal fans. Be it either Piers Morgan or our very own naveenroy.

What I feel, is that United need forwards who can run at defences and be perfect poachers. Selling Chicharito and RVP was a disaster. Perhaps a Benzema, Lukaku or a Mario Gomez is in the offing.
I wouldn't be taking it too far if I say that United need a shirt seller. A star. Bale looks unlikely to come and so does Neymar.
Maybe a certain Marco Reus can be a viable solution.

I've even admitted on this forum that I wasn't excited by Cech moving to Arsenal but after a few matches, I have really seen what a difference he makes! That was a seriously stupid loss by Mourinho. But Mourinho is just that - a specialist in failure

That man! How I was wishing he'd take over Arsenal once the boss leaves. May still happen.

Klopp taking over at Arsenal., you are dreaming mate. Even if he hadn't joined Liverpool I don't think he would have gone to Arsenal, not with the plastic gunners fans .

Why would Real let Bale leave? He is their main player in the post-Ronaldo scenario (which is very likely as Ronaldo is leaving Real next year). I dont think at all he is an attainable target.

It might be worth to have a cheeky punt at James Rodriguez though! He is the guy who scored the goal of the tournament in the last world cup. Very fast and creative player and in the sidelines at Real! It was too early for him there and he might fancy moving here. Real got him for 60m+ so he wont be cheap but who cares about money

Another player I really like is one attacking player at Dortmund - not Reus though. Its a certain Aubameyang! He is really really pacy and good at scoring goals. We should be having a decent look at him!

If LVG continue for another year, I think ManU will soon go into the Liverpool way - a place where big name players would avoid. In my opinion, more than new players what they need is a manager who can be a true successor of SAF.

Despite of the recent setbacks, I am pretty optimistic about Liverpool - In Klopp we believe!

vb san I dont think manager is ever the problem at any club. 99% of the time clubs fire their managers unnecessarily. You should read SAF's latest book on leadership (its called Leading). He laments about this in no uncertain terms. SAF went thru tough time himself at United several times. He was written off by many when he started with us (there was a famous banner called "Three years of excuses and still crap - Ta ra Fergie!!") Imagine if United had listened to its fans and critics and fired Fergie.

All regime changes need time to stabilize, implement their ideas and achieve success. It was always going to be an impossible job to succeed the greatest manager of all time. It didnt help he left a substandard team. The new guy had to do lot of rebuilding (which started with Moyes). Its practically a brand new defense now - none of Fergie's regulars are there now. Its a new midfield. and its a new attack. They will need time to gel, get to know each others game, trust each other etc. They have not grown together unlike Barca/Bayern. Fans will have to be patient, rebuilding is always a painful process. Fergie himself went thru it many times. We won nothing between 2004 and 2007 which is when Fergie took time to assemble his greatest team. I actually like that LVG is using lot of young players. Already Smalling has grown a lot working with him. Its not for nothing that absolutely great players like Xavi, Mueller etc cannot stop praising LVG enough.

I'm no fan of Jose, but I don't see what sacking him would achieve.

I'd have rather sacked their star players and bought some young guns for the future with the money. If Jose proved incapable of grooming a good team out of that bunch, then fair play to sack him then.

Re: The Football Thread

Just saw the news about the training ground bust up between Fabregas and others. Mourinho tends to leave his teams in absolute tatters when things don't go well. It must be a big let down for all those Chelsea fans who thought this second coming of him was a god send.

This was the first real crisis for Jose and he seems to have failed miserably in it.

Re: The Football Thread

Never had anything against Jose until he pissed Wenger off - unnecessarily calling him names. I am not at all sympathetic about his "parting with mutual consent". Karma catches up with everyone. Sooner or later.

Re: The Football Thread

Its going crazy!

United is to play Chelsea on 28 Dec and for all we know Jose might be welcoming his old team there. Van Gaal sounded very shaky yesterday.

Fabregas is a terrible, terrible player. He's a shrewd and cunning person both on and off the pitch. Not only does he disappear from the pitch post December, he has a tendency to prove his disloyalty to every club he plays with. He leaked Pep's lineup to the press before a crucial Clasico!

As Tata Martino rightly said - "Fabregas is that one big rotten apple in the basket that is FC Barcelona."

I wouldn't disagree with your assessment about Cesc. All of this is going to make the summer transfer window a very interesting one.

Barca now the record winners of World Club Championship, well deserved I would say.

Haha typical gooner you are mate !!. You are talking as if Wenger is a saint and he never said anything against Jose. Wenger cannot stand up to Jose any day. We all saw that shove on Jose when you lost 6-0 which shows his inability to take on Jose. Not to forget he escaped without any ban/fine. The only match he won is community shield which we all know is due to lack of fitness of players being the first competitive match of the season. If you still don't believe, 2-0 win which followed sums it up.

If he cannot deliver things, he should atleast stop crying on people who does it.
