Namma Bengaluru Recreated in Vancouver - Mission Impossible

This must make every Karnataka guy, and especially a Bangalorean most happiest.

Photos: Tom Cruise films Mission: Impossible 4 in Vancouver

Mission Impossible - 4 should have been shot at Bangalore without any hitch, but looks like the Hollywood Director was in no mood to do that, but being so much smitten by the city, looks like they have Re-created the Garden city.

I will certainly watch this movie for sure because of the Bangalore Connection.

Very Nice!!

Three Cheers to Bangalore a.k.a Garden City a.k.a Silicon City of INDIA

PS:"Bala Thiruvu Mathra" sign caught me off-guard. In Bangalore, these kind of sign boards are not so common(mostly they are in English).

PPS:They have made Vancouver look more Bangalore than Bangalore itself(except for weather). Wish Namma Bengaluru would become so good in future that Hollywood flicks are actually shot here

Re: Namma Bengaluru Recreated in Vancouver - Mission Impossible

Wouldn't it have been cheaper to shoot here than in Vancouver?
The autos look the part, but i don't think a few kei cars /vans that are not sold in India would make it look like a B'luru road.
Also the road signs mostly would be English or English/Kannada, not only Kannada signboards per se.
But proud that a Tom Cruise film actually went into the pains to recreate Bengaluru in a foreign country.

Rubbish job only in terms of cars....

Rest all actually resembles Bangalore.

Its Laudable that they found the Garden city so Intriguing.

This might just be a Blink and go appearance... Lets wait for the movie to release.

Hope he does some impossible stunts in our autos
Most of the things look cool and the pains to recreate is laudable.

akhil: You are right they have made Vancouver look more Bangalore than Bangalore itself. I would say some cars are out of place. I am stunned with the B-Trac boards, Bangalore sign board on light posts between dividers, number plate of auto's. Though there are some differences the crew needs to be appreciated for creating such an atmosphere.

I am sure there is some Kannadiga assisting with the sign boards, posters, etc. Kudo's to him. Will watch to see what the connection to Bangalore is in the movie.

Re: Namma Bengaluru Recreated in Vancouver - Mission Impossible

Though its good that they recreated Bangalore very well, I wonder why didnt they come down here to shoot?

- The scene was too short to require travel
- Lack of support for filming from local authorities
- Lack of technicians for filminf support

We all have seen the pictures of the BMW concept in Mumbai, that means the shooting crew was in India. This rules out the first point.

IMHO, the bolded statement should be true.

But I certainly LOVE the (tuk tuks) our auto-rickshaws, if nothing.
OT: My 5 year old nephew from Canada who was recently visiting us, was all gaga over autos & we ended spending a better part of one day just driving around in an auto. He was super excited when permitted to sit beside driver for short distance. A luxury he cannot even afford in cars in Canada.

Well, the autos here in Bangalore are either Black & Yellow or Green & Yellow. They have put in full yellow autos.

I agree on the signboards and the cars though. Even the board which says Kamaraj Road looks authentic (maybe not so authentic, they could have tweaked the font a little).

And we don't see any bicycle stands here in Bangalore, do we?

I'll definitely be watching this movie, even if it is only for the Bangalore connection.

Ooh, didn't notice that the autos were TN/AP style.
Just got messed up in the head. Ofcourse B'luru auto are like kerala autos with black and yellow colour.
Anyway though flawed they atleast tried putting an indian city in a mainstream Hollywood film.

Re: Namma Bengaluru Recreated in Vancouver - Mission Impossible

Is this something we Bangaloreans should be proud of?
They have filmed in Mumbai, but why not in Bangalore? I am sure Bangalore was a strategic location in the script hence they had to have Bangalore in the movie without any other options. Because they could not shoot in Bangalore they had to create a set somewhere else.

It is a shame that they couldn't shoot in Bangalore itself !!!
