Re: Another earthquake in NCR?

At least one causality, more injured -- from news.google.com.

Edit:- Causalities are now 7; TV in KL reporting it was felt in Bangladesh too. A minor one was felt in KL in early after noon too - @ Idukki district.

Edit 3:- casualties in Nepal too.

Re: Another earthquake in NCR?

Here too we felt the quake. Was browsing when the monitor started shaking crazily.
Duration was just a minute or so. Hope not much of a damage is done at epicenter.

Re: Another earthquake in NCR?

It was severe in my hometown. All are safe. But cannot say the same for Gangtok and Kalimpong. Both are completely cut off. No communication. and to make the matter worse it was raining i heard.

Lets hope everything is OK. waiting for tomorrow.

Another earthquake in Delhi/NCR

A powerful earthquake was felt in several countries in Asia on Tuesday, rocking buildings in the Indian capital of New Delhi, sending panicked resident of Karachi, Pakistan, fleeing into the streets and striking with unusually powerful force in Iran.

The earthquake measured 7.8 on the Richter scale and its epicenter was in Khash, Iran, near Iran’s border with Pakistan, the U.S. Geological Survey said. The quake was felt as far away as the Persian Gulf states, according to Reuters.

In New Delhi, which is periodically shaken by temblors, the distant quake could be felt through the city, as buildings shook for more than 10 seconds and, in some areas, frightened people ran into the streets. No injuries were reported, nor were there any early reports of property damage in the Indian capital.

The earth quake was felt in the Gulf region also.

We in Oman also felt the tremors twice and all offices and tall buildings were vacated as a precautionary measure.

It felt as though somebody pulled the carpet beneath your legs.

This is one thing I never understand. The Japanese agencies advisory (which is taught to children in schools) is that after and during a quake, evacuating buildings is the worst idea. Everyone should just get under a bed, or desk. Its a much higher risk that a building will topple on you, or you will be caught in the fire escape in case the building starts crumbling.

Wonder when we will have such advisories or some thought given to such stuff.

Re: Another earthquake in NCR?

The information shared by you is the process to be followed DURING the earth quake.
What I am referring to, is the process followed AFTER the quake (incase if one survives )

Evacuation procedure is followed everywhere after the tremors felt.
There is a SOP on how to evacuate a building every time there is a quake OR fire OR any other accident and there are evacuation wardens in each office to guide as per the BCP recommendations. This is followed to control the panic situation also.

What I wanted to highlight is that quake was felt in the Gulf region as well.
