Re: Bad experience with coconuts

Same thing happened to me back in 2008. Our own coconut tree decided to drop one on the windshield of my Indica. The tree was not that tall and maybe because of that fact, the glass did not break but it developed a major crack.

I had it replaced though and it cost me about 8000. But even after that incident, I always parked the car in the same place (nowhere else to park) and thankfully no more coconuts landed on any part of the car.

Re: Protecting the car from overhead coconut trees

Hi friends
I am facing a weird parking issue. My allotted parking within my residential complex is below a "badam" tree. Unfortunately, the nuts keeps falling and due to this have got several small dents on the bonnet and the car roof. Car in question is Baleno(New).

I use a car cover to protect the car but then it is not adequate to prevent the dents.
This is a rental place and I am not in a position to do a portable car port.
What are my simple options?

The thoughts that came to mind are :
1) Placing towels on the bonnet and roof and then use the cover over it
2) Placing car board or bubble wrapped cardboard and using the cover over it
3) Stitching a layer of cloth in the var cover. Is t possible?

Any other DIY idea is welcome.

I am not looking at the car umbrella options which is generally expensive.

Stich a layer of thin foam under the car cover. Competent upholstery guys will be having the expertise and materials with them. On the flip side, you might not be able to fold the cover very snug for storage.

Re: Protecting the car from overhead coconut trees

The simplest would be to buy the net used to prevent birds from entering balcony. The size should be rectangular so as to cover the car top. Tie all the corners with strong rope and tie the other end of ropes to trees/pillar nearby. Buy the net whose size of the mesh gaps is lesser than Badam nuts.
