| The Indian Rock Music Thread I am not too good with Indian rock bands, but stumbled upon quite a few off late and found some them very catchy and some even matches up with the world standards. Can we have some good ones aboard? Kickin' off with Aahatein by Agnee, Couldn't find a thread on the topic. Please direct the post to that thread if any exist. Thanks  |

| Re: The Indian Rock Music Thread Watched Indus Creed open for Santana at Bangalore on 26th October. I've been a fan of IC for a while now, but sadly they sounded a bit out of it that day. The energy that their music is full of, and that they had on stage previously was missing. Growing old maybe? Any Motherjane fans in the house? | Senior - BHPian  | Re: The Indian Rock Music Thread Still remember the day i stumbled upon a 13AD tape at my cousin's place...man oh man was i ever surprised to listen to ground zero. Sounds cheesy now sure but with the sort of production they would have had at that time it was amazing. Indus Creed's Trapped still pops up in my playlist once in a while. Millenium from Bangalore is another favorite but that would be metal and that said are we including Indian Metal bands also in here? Watched Motherjane thrice. Once in Bangalore at some medical college, then in NIT, Kozhikode and then finally in Trivandrum. He nailed Hallowed Be Thy Name pretty well i must say. Avial is fun, Down Troddence [Shiva] was intense. RSJ magazine brings out nice compilations of Indian Rock once in a while along with their mags. Think its called Levi's Great Indian Rock or something. |

Yes, lets include metal bands too, they need their share of recognition man! The medical college you mentioned is St. John's. A lot of great bands have played at their cultural fest Autumn Muse (Avial & Motherjane multiple times, Malayali connection you see!) thouth the last time I saw Avial there, they were quite a letdown. I remember another called Gravy Train (Bangalore I guess)from I think the late 90s who played at John's. Anyone hear of them? Cheers, Rahul | |

Just wish they could do a remaster and bring in some heavier guitars into that track. Ah well My cousin in Bangalore from whom i got to listen to 13AD still has the tape of Millenium as well. Need to "borrow" that from him. And St.John's yes. That's the college. I think the one time i went there Pentagram also played. Man talking about Pentagram does anyone have their earlier stuff before they went all weird with industrial/techno sounds? Think there was a song called one eyed man or something even had a video i think. 2yrs in Bangalore were so much fun. Those Independence Day rock concerts were awesome. Remember being blown away by Myndsnare and a previously unknown band called "Shrapnel". Bought both of their cds that night. Shrapnel's song was awesome: "Death beckons you, In the final few minutes You want to escape But your soul's just not in it My desire grows As i sense your fear The end of your time Is the reason i'm here"! Listening to that at some God forsaken hour was just too good an experience. Thermal and a quarter had a few fans among friends there but i could not get into it. And been planning to buy the albums from Kryptos but never got around to it. Guess its high time i did. Demonic Resurrection, i gave a wide berth. Never could get into extreme black metal. Bhoomi was another Bangalore metal band which sounded real good on stage. Could not find more music from them. |
