re: The Bangalore Metro rail (BMRCL) thread!

I dont think KR Market and Chickpet stations will be functional from tomorrow, see the portion marked red from today's deccan herald.

On the other hand, the portion marked blue shows the priorities of our great chief minister

Only the Varshik Cards in use now. At this time, the Sanchar cards are not in use.

Regarding my query about online re-charges, I guess I will know next week

Was able to validate the recharge I had done - and all good.

One more thing - I had put in a grievance that one account should support multiple cards. This feature has been added to the Recharge portal ! I am able to register my 3 cards now. At recharge, the portal asks to choose which card to recharge.

re: The Bangalore Metro rail (BMRCL) thread!

Superb experience from the past two days commuting to office in metro. To ease out the crowd, the green line was already running at 3min frequency yesterday evening. It is only the purple line that is still catching up to 4 min. This has reduced the crowds greatly. Due to the increased frequency, transit time has come down to a max of 3mins either way. Yesterday when I was in transit from Purple line to Green, I could see the green line train crowded to the brim as I got down the stairs. It left and by the time I reached the platform and went to its end, the next train had already arrived.

They still have to sort out the alignment of trains to the exit markings on the platform. Either some operators are not yet used to this, or the Chalta hai attitude has creeped out.

re: The Bangalore Metro rail (BMRCL) thread!

Subways connecting the Kempegowda (Majestic) metro station with the KSR Railway station, BMTC Bus Stand, KSRTC Bus Stand were inaugurated and opened to the public yesterday (this is a network of interconnected subways and connect back the old BBMP owned subway leading to the KSR Railway station).

This report also mentions 2 other subways, one on Tank Bund Road and the other on Minerva mills Road also connecting to the KSR Railway station.

News report from Indian Express, Bangalore - 13 Dec 2018 - Link

I hope the honeycomb gaps that were noticed in the concrete can be fixed, seems like a quality of work issue but not sure how serious an issue it is in terms of safety ( does it impact strength of the concrete ?).

Work at Jayadeva flyover starts

Up ramp from Bannerghatta road to Jayadeva signal is blocked now. One needs to go to East End and turn left towards Jayadeva.

Some disruption in Metro train services on the Indiranagar-MG Road stretch during the end of year to help with the repair work currently in progress.

News18 Kannada - a regional news channel - reports that a princely sum of ₹10 crores was supposedly spent on pillar repairs.

re: The Bangalore Metro rail (BMRCL) thread!

A pedestrian walkway (skywalk) is coming up outside the Baiyappanahalli metro station on Old Madras Road. Much needed one and very much delayed, this should have come up during the launch of phase 1, anyways better late than never! This will hopefully ease the human 'traffic' outside the station and make the messy place safer. It is coming up directly in front of the station, not at the Srinivasapura/Suddaguntapalya junction which is just ahead.

re: The Bangalore Metro rail (BMRCL) thread!

Thieves made away with 400+ metres of copper wire (worth 5 Lakh Rupees) used for earthing on the metro line between Byappanahalli and Swami Vivekananda metro stations. This went unnoticed between May 15 and June 5, and an electric surge during that period could have been disastrous, lucky escape!

Good move, hope they start services a bit earlier on Sundays next.

They did advance the Sunday timings from 8 am to 7am a few months ago. I am guessing that they will make it earlier if ridership during the morning hours grows.
