Re: Reclaiming my life - one day at a time

Went for 2-week trek to Annapurna Base Camp in Nepal. 12 days of walking in sun, rain and wind. On top of it cold weather. Daily trek started at 8am and ended at 4pm covering about 12kms in a day. The terrain ranged from very steep slopes to gradual ups and downs.

Dropped 5 kgs in the process ....

Re: Reclaiming my life - one day at a time

Resumed gymming after a long hiatus (almost a year!) and my roomie has resumed playing badminton. It definitely feels a lot better during the day now.

Here's the brief schedule - wake up at 4:40, freshen up in 7-10 minutes, leave for the gym which is located 11 km away from our apartment in the car (it is our company's gym at the quarters so it is free! ), the roads are mostly empty save for the municipality cleaners so we reach there in about 10-15 minutes, do a brief warm-up - stretching, 20 min. treadmill'ing at low speeds and progressive high speeds towards the last 5-7 minutes, cardio workout for the next 15 minutes, flat bench press (5 + 5 kg) for the next 10 minutes with 2 breaks, squatting for 7-10 minutes and end the workout with some breathing exercise by laying down on the carpeted floor. This is the most relaxing part - I even dozed off once when my roomie came looking out for me! We return back home at 6:40 AM. Quickly take a shower, change and leave for work.

Office hours somehow tend to be a lot more better after a good workout - not sure how this affects the body and mind psychologically. Once this becomes a part of the daily schedule, skipping the workout in the morn means a terrible day at work, yawning post lunch and feeling absolutely lazy to do anything. Missed the workout all this while.

The only things I have to take care of now - maintain a healthy diet, reduce fat and junk food intake!

Re: Reclaiming my life - one day at a time

SDP, I would confess that I have not been regular at updating on this thread. Infact my exercise schedule has been more on and off ( May be 2 days in a week). Since a fortnight had been more regular (6 days a week). Had promised myself to start updating after I complete regular exercising for a month, but looking at Gannu 1 thought of posting an update.

Exercise Schedule -- Walk daily in the society for around 30 min in the morning.(Cover around 3 kms) Then cycle around 10 KM in 30-35 min (There is a gap in these two activities for around an hour as I cycle after kids go to school). Incase if things dont work out manage to do atleast one of the two activities. Try to ensure eat no junk food and controlled diet during the day,

Target is to bring down cholesterol levels within acceptable range in a timeframe of 3 months

Re: Reclaiming my life - 6 months at a time

Dear t-bhpians,
I have been a silent observer of this thread.
I want to thank all the contributors of this thread for the post below.
Especially SDP!!.

Flashback:
It was April 1 2013. Having tried multiple avenues for weight reduction (gym, cycling, walking in the park), decided it was time to be serious.
Wifey was really against me joining gym , as past experience indicated, 1 year membership ended up being used hardly 3 days.
Talked to her more, and I guess she realized this guy is serious.
Off I went to Snap Fitness, negotiated a bit and signed up for 3 months.

Following were the key measurements
Weight: 83.7 kg
BMI - 28
%body fat - 36

03-Nov-2013
I just finished my first 10k run(on the treadmill) in 68 minutes. Feels top of the world!!

As reward, I took out a 6 month membership at Golds.

I feel so good and so energized.

Key measurements now read
Weight: 72.6
BMI- 26
%body fat- 26

I find it really amazing, how my body has turned around in 6 months.

Journey has just begun. Next target is 19% body fat.

Team-bhp Rocks!!

Thanks for asking!!
Well, was busy preparing for a launch! but it got postponed to next year (due a launch accident in Russia earlier this year) at the last minute so managed to log in.

Seems like you guys have managed to stick to the schedule. fortunately or unfortunately, during the busy days, the time I had was either work at office or work at gym! In a way it proved helpful. I have brought down my body fat to 17% in just 10 weeks and body has taken a good shape now!

Weekly routine has been same,
-work is managing to keep me engaged
-The winter has not yet managed to stop my motivation from cycling (6kms every day) or going to gym (2hrs of dedicated workout) every alternate day.
-Reading: Thinking of learning another language, but still confused. which one to choose.

SDP, how much did it cost? Is the Rockrider 5.0 available? I don't see its listing on their website.
