Wish you luck in finding a solution to it. In our 2009 first gen i20, the issue only got fixed after three years of struggle/e-mails/going to the consumer forum and after replacing the steering column & rack from the i-gen i20, i.e the model your dad owns.

Spotted a Red Polo with a WB02 6 registration plate and a yellow "live to drive" sticker on the back. On NH2 near Bardhaman on Saturday.

Chennai spottings:
1. White Brio outside 3M, nungambakkam at 1pm. It had LTD on the rear bumper.
2. Another white brio with Red lining sticker on rear bumper , around 3pm at wheatcrofts road!

25th March, 6-45pm at Rajarhat.
White Fiat Linea with Odisha registration plate. 'Live to Drive' & 'Love cars Live cars' in rear wind shield and two Tbp Url's in both the front doors. I flashed lights to you and even overtook you once to show the Team Bhp sticker in my car but no response. I was in a Copper red Alto k10.
