RIP - Cartoonist Mario Miranda

Noted cartoonist Mario Miranda dies at the age of 85.
His cartoons comes to my mind now. Many of his cartoon characters and Goa & Bombay street scenes in the Illustrated weekly were still fresh in memory
Long live his memories.
The 85-year-old Miranda, who drew Goa for the world and drew the world for readers in India, died in his sleep at his home in Goa. He had been ailing for the last few years.

RIP, Mario!

Attention to detail and a fantastic sense of expression. Won't be too many cartoonists like him.

We all have to go some day. Mario's legacy is the warm portrayal of Goa's villages. He died in the village home of his ancestors . Long live his spirit!

RIP Great Mario sir.

I had been a fanboy of Mario's cartoons eps during the Illustrated Weekly days when I was in college. There used to be mad rush to get the copy from the college library to see his comic strips.

Mario along with the RK Laxman were the real voices of India. laxmoan focussing on the ordinary man whereas Mario focusssed on the corporate world. We will miss you Mario sir.

We'll miss you Mario Sir. It was a pleasure watching your depictions of Goa and Crowds, over the years. You and RK Laxman were the best ever. RIP.

RIP Mario sir. Remember your funny cartoons in the afternoon D&C papers in Mumbai. Also your cartoons in our 1st standard English text books (Balbharti) in the early eighties in Mumbai. Especially the characters: Nitin, Leena, Hasan etc. grew up with these.:-(

Re: RIP - Cartoonist Mario Miranda

R.I.P Mario sir
Have been following his cartoons since Illustrated Weekly days.
His characters Godbole,Fonseca and miss Nimbupani the security guard in his inimitable style simply awsome
Todays Times of India reproduced some of his great ones
www.epaper.timesofindia.com go to the city section page 8
On a lighter note he would be caricaturing the angels in heaven and giving them names
We will miss you
