I was quite sure it was a merc but i assumed it was the original one but i guess that does not count since it's not for sale,

Well, I may be wrong here, but I think the VCCCI or Vintage & Classic Car Club of India specifies when a vehicle turns into a classic or Vinatge.

Vintage - Cars & Motorcycles built before 1940
Classics - Cars & Motorcycles built between 1941 - 1960
Recent Classics - Cars built between 1961 - 1970

I presume this is updated periodlically, or you could use the ratio and calulate when your vehicle will become a "recent classic", "classic" and finally a "vintage".

Check out www.vccci.com

finally, i couldn't find a pic of the W196 for a while now. i was thinking of starting a whole new thred but couldn't because i was unable to find a pic. this ladies and gentlemen, my favourite Mercedes of all time. Fangio won the 1954 and the 1955 world championships in this very car. this car is such a favourite of mine, that this is the only car i ever bothered sketching. and it gets better, it's the only sketch that turned out looking good.

coming to the auction, the top two cars definitely deserved their price. amazing. 24 million dollars is a lot of money, for what id say is a lot of heritage value. but prices of the 250 GTO have since gone down.

Re: World's 10 most expensive car auctions..

This 1962 Ferrari 250 GTO (chassis number 3413) has become the most expensive car ever sold in an auction fetching a bid of $48 million, Rs 337 crores approx.
