It's a Hamster.
Gintu & Ginu.
It's almost 60 days old. My kids are always engaged with these new additions to our family.
Currently feed with Hamster's food and almost all vegetables.
Both are ready to eat all eatables from biscuits to chappathi.

Hello, cute pets, all of them.
However, I would advise caution when feeding them food cooked at home.
A few years ago, we had a squirrel we rescued from the house cat at CBE.
We fed him whatever he liked & he was a regular at meal-times.
Here he is munching on some pizza - he was partial to the thin crust ones !

Team-BHPians and their Pets-takumi_pizza_0.jpg

And was also a Coffee junkie

Team-BHPians and their Pets-takumi_coffee_0.jpg

He quickly gained weight & before we realized it, was weighing in at ~200 grams (twice the average weight of the Indian-Palm-Squirrel according to Wikipedia).
Soon, his movements became restricted & then at just 10 months, he passed away silently one evening.
We learnt later from a Vet that food we cook at home, which is usually full of salt, sugar, fat, & stuff, will cause obesity in tiny creatures.

Wean the rabbit & the hamsters away from idli, dosa, chappathi & the like - stick to greens, vegetables, & fruits.

We now have a couple of rescued squirrels at Bangalore - they're fed only fruits & veggies.
We also ensure they get a lot of exercise - they literally spend hours everyday on these wheels.
More than two years on, they're doing mighty fine & are ready to be repatriated.

Also, for the hamsters, you might want to check out products from this eBay vendor.

True Srini. Thanks for the insight. I already google'd to get details on pampering hamsters.
We have been restricting to give any other foods except vegetables and fruits and keep these kids very busy and allow them to roam around the house after every meal.

Thanks for the vendor details. Currently i get the food from the known person in the same business and do home deliveries too.

They have 3 actually, looks like these dogs don't like our weather after all. Had this not been today I would have jumped and got a third dog. I am really careful about the things I read online today.

After that he's all on rest n relax time on our sofa while basking in the morning sun.

And any time during the day.. He just wants all spa treatment head scratches / massages & just pure attention.

He mimics so many sounds these days.
It's really a joy to see him happy n jolly walking/chirping/flying around.

I have a few funny videos of him. Will try and edit them over the coming weekend.

Cheers,

Ace.

Re: Team-BHPians and their Pets

Hello Team, few days back I had been to my in-laws place to water their plants since they have temporally shifted their base to UK, their's is the top floor apartment with terrace. I found these two kittens, roaming around on the terrace. They were too weak, and I assumed their mother is not with them so I tried to catch them to bring them home. I could catch one of them and the other one managed to escape. Next day, I went back to bring the other one too and I found him even more weak now. I got him home day before yesterday, fed him with diluted milk. Yesterday morning, the weaker kitten started shivering, along with loose motions. I took him to two vets and both of them have said that he is suffering from dehydration, they have suggested ORS, one dose of anti-diarrhea syrup and one dose of antibiotic was also given to the kitten(.5 ml) with a syringe. I have been giving the ORS with a gap of 1-2 hours, and the kitten tries to drink milk once in a while, however I am scared that its condition is not improving. It is still as weak, and is hardly able to walk or eat. Anyone around who can help me with this situation?

Also, it is just me and my wife here in Pune and we both have offices to attend to on Mondays to Fridays. It is getting increasingly difficult to take care of the ill kitten. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Cute hamsters! I also used to have hamsters as pet when I was in Bangkok, roughly 3-4 years back. Really energetic and fun loving creatures I tell you. I really miss them and your picture reminds me of them! Enjoy it fully!

A new addition to our home.
It's a Female Golden Retriever US breed and 55 days old. My son has selected a name before it arrives.
It's Toffy.
Very energetic and playful. Keeping me fully engaged and kids are very much happy to bring her home.

I grew up with a dog like that, and she was always close to me because we were "children" together
