Team-BHP - Help required for Parking Space design

We are in planning stage of our house. It is a corner site with house entry on one road(60' side). I am planning to have car entry on 40' width side due to natural level difference. The plot has natural slope towards 40' road of almost 3-4'. So just by digging 2' near road and raising 2-3' on other side we can get 7' garage height.
I am planning to provide parking for 3-4 cars in future. I can get a parking space for 18' wide x 32' long with entry width of 15'. I dont want the entire 30' to be garage due to elevation and closer to corner entry.
Ideally parking space to be 10x10' for each car for side by side.
1. Can I manage to park 2 cars (1 small and 1 big) side by side in this (17'9") space?
Ur suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

What a coincidence! I am in the exact same situation, and had a discussion with my architect just last night.

Couple of points:
1. 10' x 10' parking: 10' length is very less. Alto is > 11'.
2. 17'9" width is sufficient for parking two cars next to each other, assuming both are not large SUVs.
3. 7' height is tight if you plan a SUV in future. Better to keep your options open.
4. While considering the digging depth, also keep 1' ot 1.5' for roof slab, beams etc. After this, would be good to have clear entry height of around 7.5 to 8 feet (for possibility of SUVs in future)
5. Your garage entry seems bang near the end of site. If so, what is your plan for the entry/exit ramp? Having a very steep ramp is going to make entry and exit very painful.

I was infact planning a parking at ground level only, with a room in the basement. But architect said having only one room in basement is not a great idea, since you will have to fill land to get rest of your ground floor at one level. Instead have a complete basement. That would jackup the construction cost. so I am still thinking.

4. I too started with entire floor basement but the costs involved and also there is no requirement for large basement, made me prune the basement. Also in my case I dont have to fill other side of site as is is naturally raised.So i am confining to half basement. I will keep posted

20x10x8 is enough per vehicle unless we are talking about some very big vehicles. The first thing to do is to consider the future when planning this.

How many vehicles do you expect to have in the future. Assume one vehicle per person at home and keep at least one slot free for whenever you have guests as public parking spaces are getting less by the day with the growth and expansion of Bangalore. Therefore, despite the cost, it is better to construct a bigger parking space that is sometimes unused than to struggle a couple of years later.

Also try and make the parking space as wide as possible rather than long. It is easier to have a big gate, perhaps even the width of the 40 foot wall, rather than have to move cars out to get last vehicle out.

Please do keep in mind the accessibility to the space.
From the picture, the top right most car would have a little bit of a squeeze which might make it a hassle. Make sure the turning is good enough for a car with a large turning radius.
Also, keep in mind that the cars are only getting bigger, so don't go by today's standards, but also future needs. In my building, which is a fantastic location and everything, a car bigger than a E Class has a tough fit. It simply doesn't go into the underground garage, and if parked anywhere else in the compound, possibly blocks access for other cars.
