The speedo seems to move up at a constant rate... I feel the zen slows the acceleraton down after 120 kmph... But, in this video... the speedo slimbs from 120-160 almost as it did from 60-100

Must See!!!

BBC Top Gear "tests" the CityRover a.k.a Tata Indica. I have a mixed feeling about this video. It's really funny but on the other hand I was sad to see them making India's first foray in mainstream International car market into a laughing stock.

Anyway, it's Rover to be blamed more for this, because pricing of this car in the UK was astronomically high considering that main strong point of the Indica was bigger car at ultra low pricing....

They're just being colonial Brits. At least India has Indian Cars and SUVs, which is a lot more than can be said of their pathetic little island.

You shouldnt take Top Gear seriously - its a sitcom and not an automotive show.

As far as I see its not all that bad of a test, typical of top gear and the Indica indieed is a pretty hopeless car for an enthusiast, me having first hand experience on it can say that.
Their reviews of Vauxhall Vectra was far worse than this in terms of lambasting a vehicle.
Even the indian Indica is more loaded than that Rover selling there at a ridiculous 6500 pounds without a CD player or power windows.

And yes indeed it must have been the worst car they have driven, hell it's the worst modern day car in India I have driven.
At least now with the Indica Turbo Diesel it has a little punch on the straights but I have had very very scary moments with that car on curves though I had 195/55 Michelin tyres on it. As a daily commuter and considering what the Xeta is priced at, that's a bargain in India but for Euro standards.................
The only good thing abt the Indica I feel is Cabin Space.

I had a colleague from UK (of British Origin) visting in Dec 06. I picked him up in my Xeta.

On a weekend he took a test drive on the outskirts of Pune and he was pretty impressed with the vehicle, I have alloys and good Art. leather seat covers and everything included the car costed around 4.0 lakhs.

He said if someone would sell this vehicle (alloys and all included) at the price mentioned above in the UK it would be great and many people would definitely consider it.

OK, this was my two cents worth, let us resume the Indica bashing now

The Xeta is a good buy for the money any day, except for probably its not made for serious mods and on road thrashing, but most cars in India are not made for that. Even the new Zen has joined the league of commuter vehicles.

The version on the Indica being sold in the UK did not have anything like power windows or beige color interiors or a cd player, even the dash and console was of the Old Indicas, it was as good or bad as the Indicab being sold in india, now, how on earth can such a car get a good review in UK. It wont get a good one in India itself at the price it was selling.

Mahindra Jeep Hill Climb - awesome!

For all Mahindra Jeep fans...

Here are a couple of videos taken during a small trip to the hills near palghat, kerala...

Watch how the 4WD mahindra does a near 60 degree climb with 8 people on board, with absolute ease...

The video is shot from within the jeep, and gives you an idea of how steep the climb is...

Here is the link:- RapidShare: 1-Click Webhosting
