Has anybody seen the new ad for Indigo Airlines? They emphasize on the importance of time in the aviation industry. It was very nicely done. I loved it

This ontime thing is a sort of a cheat.

I will give you an example.

Bangalore - Goa, a jet engined flight earlier used to take 45 mins take off and landing. The total travel time was mentioned as 45 mins.

Now the total travel time is mentioned as 1:15 mins on the same route. The flight does not take more then 45-55 mins.

ONTIME all the time obviously.

ONTIME all the time obviously.
Even Emirates Airlines follows a similar approach IIRC, based on my limited experience travelling with them.

I am no expert but that could be to accomodate the increased taxi time due to the massive growth in air traffic since, say 10 years ago. So it may not be the airline's fault. And it is not as though they are pre-emptively incorporating a buffer - the flight time really is more there days.

For example, In the 1990s, IA flight time between Lucknow and Delhi used to be 40 mins. Now the aircraft is in the air for 50 mins.

Have you seen the latest Alto advertisement ?

A young man and a young lady go on a long drive in Alto. A Lancer overtakes this Alto (The Lancer indicates properly while changing lanes and performs the overtaking in a very sane manner).

But immediately after the Lancer overtakes the Alto, the young lady in the Alto somehow feels offended and provokes the driver to overtake the Lancer. The young man driving the Alto easily gets provoked by the young lady and immediately overtakes the Lancer (perhaps dangerously) by accelerating rapidly (as seen in the speedometer).

While the Alto is overtaking the Lancer, the young lady in the front passenger seat is also shown making facing faces at the people in the car being overtaken. (Mind you, she is not a 10 year old kid, she is a grown up young lady)

Maruti Suzuki advertisements are generally nice, but this one is totally irresponsible and immature. What exactly are they promoting - racing a puny 800cc car with a much more capable car ?

The previous Alto advertisement was much better, in which a young married couple is shown going on an early morning long drive in the rainy weather.

The latest Xylo ad (happy legs) has a glaring goofup that anyone with little bit of knowledge of SLRs should be able to see. The Ace Fashion Photographger is taking pictures of the models using a telephoto zoom lens.

Check it at 00:07 seconds.

The Alto advt is definitely a blunder!

Seems like Maruti's advt team have their heads under mud! First it was the reckless driven SX4 and now the Alto. And yes, whats with the lady showing faces?

#2
Loved the Sumo Grande advt which has been on the air for quite some time now. The concept of first impression being not the right one. Well made! TATA's definitely have a good advt team there.

They should have replaced the lancer with the new SX4. Well regarding the AD part, if Chevy can do it then why not Maruti.

Offtopic - Cute looking girl in the alto
