Did you guys see the new Tata Sky ad featuring Aamir Khan? I thought it's another gem from Mr. Perfectionist. While he plays the serious roles brilliantly, he can be outrageously funny in a comic role (remember Andaz Apna Apna).

The Govt. has decided to axe the new Axe advertisement for vulgarity.

New Delhi, Aug 24 (PTI) Government has cracked the whip against FMCG major Hindustan Unilever's AXE Dark Temptation Deodorants advertisement terming it indecent, vulgar and repulsive while seeking its removal from air.
The Ministry of Information & Broadcasting has written to the Indian Broadcasting Federation (IBF) asking it to advise its member channels not to telecast this advertisement or any such ones with indecent, vulgar or suggestive themes to avoid any punitive action in future.

It has observed that the content/theme of the advertisement of "Axe Dark Temptation Deodorant", which is being telecast on several TV channels, is indecent, vulgar and repulsive, an official statement said.

The Ministry has also requested the Advertising Standard Council of India (ASCI) to provide details of complaints received and action taken by Consumer Complaints Council (CCC) (if any) against the advertisement of "Axe Dar Temptation Deodorant".

In case no such formal complaint has been received, the Ministry letter itself is to be treated as one and appropriate action may be initiated., it said.

Looking into the sensitivity of the issue involved, as an interim measure, ASCI has been requested to advise the advertisers to refrain from airing the said advertisement pending decision of the CCC.
