bangalore police takes anyone for a ride if u can't speak kannada...wonder wot's happenin to this once peaceful city

Nothing to do with north south here. I know many Kannadigas who have had to face this problem of police harrassing them just because they are roaming at night.

Yes what you say is right to some extent. But that Xenophobia is there in every cities. In bangalore its slightly more.
But this problem of cops stopping people at night and telling them to go home is a recent problem. Since they cant do anything about the crime at night, their FAV policy is to tell honest citizens to go at home.
Infact if you get robbed or mugged, the cop may tell you not to file FIR because it reflects badly on police station
