I've actually had your introduction thread open for days, meaning to drop a welcome note as well as a link pointing you over to this thread!

FANTASTIC work

Is this something you've modeled from scratch? Or did you modify an existing model and focus more on the rendering?

Also - is something like this Vanquish purely done as a hobby, or was it part of a work assignment?

Thank you very much I like this welcome.
Yes, it's modeled from scratch, though there are some bits and pieces still pending.
I'm still learning lighting and rendering, there is improvement but the big boys are in a different league.
This model was part of my learning process of modeling vehicles using images only, though there are assignments for latest cars to be used for games, 3D configurators, advertisements, etc.
Below is the entire Vanquish.

Superb work...

The fact that the earlier pic showed the details of the writing on the tyre, the rust on the brake disc and the fine-lined AM logo on the center hub just makes this so much more impressive. Amazing attention to detail.

Do post more of your work, especially the Indian cars!

Sharing the Tata 207 render you posted in your intro thread, for those who missed it:

How much time did this one take you?

Loved the messy floor, including the reflection in the liquid in the shadow below the car. Those additional touches are what really make this photo-realistic (in contrast, the building at the back of your Aston looks a little too perfect).

Thank you, it's such a beautiful car I had to put those details.

Sure, I have the Hexa next, and maybe the 207 in an outdoor scene. If all goes well a really nice jelly bean from the nineties would be in the making.

It took me around 2 months but I spent majority of the time collecting reference images, the underbody was the most difficult since there are hardly images available online.
The model was created using images of the South African variant.

I agree, the building looks flat and a little too clean. That is the reason I used a shallow depth of field of 5.6 to save time on texturing and shading.

No man. This rendering exercise was just to get comfortable in blender. But I’ll try 3d printing something later on.

Re: 3D computer modelled cars, bikes etc (3DS, Maya etc)

Another of my work, a 1971 Chevrolet K10, I have deleted some parts and added some of my own. Idea was to make a worn out/ rusty car render without custom maps, I have used the V-ray dirt map to get the rust and the chipped paint effect.

Nice renders.

Few renders of Zogato we tried in our studio some time ago. Rendered in corona renderer.

Re: 3D computer modelled cars, bikes etc (3DS, Maya etc)

Creating a 3D model out of everyday objects has become so easy and free, without the need for expensive software and long drawn training and exploring. Check out the 3D scanning with a cellphone and post processing using free/almost free software.
