DGP stuck in traffic. Cops turn stretch into dream road

Another real life incident where a officer in authority happened to get stuck in normal Indian traffic, realised that there was nothing normal about it, blew a fuse and cops zoomed in and converted the stretch into a dream road by removing illegal roadside vendors, hapazardly parked two and three wheelers, buses and maxi cabs and through some plain old fashioned HONEST policing.

Result:

Quote:
the stretch between the Maharana Pratap Crossing and the Charbagh bus-stand, that used to take 30 to 45 minutes, can now be easily covered in 10-12 minutes even in peak hours.
And please remember all this happens without any road widening, fly overs, expressways, subways etc etc etc. And this road is supposed to be a chronic bottleneck! I have always believed that the traffic situation in India can be improved to a great extent by discipline and this incident is a prime example of that.

Funny part is, in typical Indian babu style the cops have only cleared that one road on which the DGP got stuck in.

Seems very good move... if it happens in all cities we will have free flowing roads.

In all likelyhood, those vendors and Maxi cabs would be camping at some other road, clogging that road.

Maxi cabs and private busses need to get organized, and get themselves a bus stand. If the cities are dependent on private transport, the city needs to build such a facility, make them pay per use and force the private operators to use it. They cannot convert public roads to their bus stands.

The same applies to vendors and street hawkers. They need to get cheap shops in markets that are accessable. The public is to blame as well. We should walk further to get into vegetable markets, instead of buying some thing from the footpath. Foot paths are not meant for fruit/vegetable stalls, and pani puri stalls.

Roads are meant for vehicle movement, but very often we see that it is a shopping mall, pig sty, bed for homeless, and numerous other unthinkable purposes.
