National Do Not Call List: Sign up here

I've heard about it and read about it and seen it on the news, but there is no information on how to actually get yourself listed on the "DO NOT CALL" lists!!

I'm going crazy here with these telemarketeers. They call when I'm in the shower. They call when I'm in a meeting. They call when I'm on another call! They call when I'm on the other side of the world. Aaaargghhhhh!!!

There has to be some way to get out of their records! Help guys!

Update 10/09/07: Courtesy Rahul_intlad
Heres the website, which will tell you how to do so for each provider:
National Do Not Call Registry of India

Heres the official site from government of India:
National Do Not Call Registry

Update: Added all links to banks etc. in this post for easy reference.

HDFC Bank

ICICI Bank and other services

HSBC

Standard Chartered

Citibank

http://www.donotdisturb.in/ - Comprehensive list of all Banks etc.

For all the Hutch users: Type DND and sms it to 123. You will get an acknowledgment.

Its simple, go to the respective firm's website and register for the DNC list. I was bothered by HDFC telemarketeers and went to their website. They have a link to register for it. Here is the link.

https://www.hdfcbank.com/applications/misc/dnc/dnc.htm

Dont know about other banks/firms though...

Rtech

Every Bank's website has a link for "Do not call list",you just need to visit the website of the particular Bank, (Which pesters you) and click on the "do not call list" link, fill up your details as prescribed and then you are done.
Hopefully you wont be called by that Bank for their any products.

e.g., ICICI banks DNC site . http://www.inuonline.com/dnc/donotcall.asp

Hope this helps

Cheers

Do Not Call

For all Team-BHPians in USA -> National Do Not Call Registry.

Not that it works miracles but ever since registering on that website, the number of telemarketing calls have tremendously reduced.

Some pointers:-
  • Having an unlisted number helps.
  • Do not put up your phone number(s) on public websites/forums where they are openly visible to anyone accessing that website/forum. Lot of marketeers leech into this resource to freely access your contact information.
  • Whenever you sign-up for free email, at an online shopping website, or any website in general - there always is an option (which is generally, selected, by default). This option acknowledges that you agree to receive marketing calls/emails/mail from the concerned parties and their partners. Make sure you un-select that option.

Thanks guys. I've put down my details in the links given above. They say it will take 45 days to put it in action! Anyways, here's hoping for the best.

Anyone has the links for citibank, HSBC, Standard Chartered ??

Hey Rtech,

I think each SE phone has Do Not Disturb Function.
You can select reject all calls or accept all calls or accept only from list.
I had in my W800.

Yes, it has that. But I want to accept calls from people whose numbers I may not know as well and not just the people in my phone book.
