Airtel called me and offered this plan to me but I declined. I am currently on 4mbps 30gb @1299 plan but with added benefit that call charges are capped at 300 per month. My wife is a heavy user of the telephone and often monthly call bill is 1000+ but it gets capped to just 300:-) hence lot of savings. I was not sure if this facility will be there post 8mbps upgrade hence I didn't go for it.

The plan I mentioned is in Bangalore. I was just glancing through Airtel's website and it appears Bangalore has the best plans around, with higher speed, more FUP at same prices.
For Chennai, I saw the Max Super 30 with 30GB at 2mbps at Rs.1399 per month. You can explore this. It will be Rs.100 less and 10 GB more per month compared to your plan.
You need to send a request to 121@in.airtel.com.

Re: How much do you pay for your broadband?

Got Airtel's new 8mbps plan activated, it's called Transonic 1500 I think. Basically it's 1500Rs plan with 8mbps speed for 80GB. After 80GB the speed will come down to 512kbps. The speedtest shows the speed to be around 9.85mbps and I'm not complaining . They have some really mouth-watering plans at these higher speeds, even have 16mbps plans too but I felt 8mbps should be more than enough (I was very happy with 4mbps speed itself but the difference between 4mbps, 80GB and this plan is only 100Rs and so I thought why not try 8mbps ).

Re: How much do you pay for your broadband?

Just saw the new plans for Bangalore. The supersonic 1500-60 is just mouth watering indeed.
16mbps, 60GB @1500 pm. It also comes with 1000min voice pulse. Wow a beautiful plan indeed.

I am currently on BSNL 4mbps, 20GB @ 1350pm with 250 min voice pulse free. Seriously considering moving to airtel especially since I can claim broadband from office and 1500 + taxes is well within my limit!

Re: How much do you pay for your broadband?

I saw this and immediately called to upgrade to Transonic 1250. But the Airtel rep said while its on the website they cannot do it. So I need to email them and they will respond. Was this the case for all of you who migrated ?

well in that case what would you say about the likes of Beam Tele. 10 Mbps connection with 100 GB FUP (and speeds of 1Mbps post FUP unlimited) all for 999 a month!!!

Suddenly Airtel doesnt seem so value for money aint it I hope they try and match Beam's plans otherwise they will be obliterated as soon as Beam becomes more widely available.

Absolutely. But beam is only in Hyderabad I guess. Let's hope they spread wings quick. Even you broadband in Mumbai offers good value but are not available across all locations

Re: How much do you pay for your broadband?

Just moved from Hyderabad to Bangalore. Had Beam in Hyderabad, a measly 512kbps speed unlimited data transfer for Rs.400/-. Just Loved the plan. Had 5 devices hooked up via wifi, did official conf calls with out a hic.

Now in Bangalore and looking for a similar Unlimited data transfer plan. Don't want to spend too much for the speed, don't need it much. Is there any provider in Marathahalli area of Bangalore who has a good vfm unlimited data plan?

Has anyone tried out http://www.railwire.co.in/index.php?...d=29&Itemid=56

As per your plan, would you need to pay extra for each additional MB that you use? I am paying 750 + taxes for 5 GB per month, with no additional charges (but reduced speed beyond 5 GB) for my Photon Plus in Trivandrum
