I like the 699 plan to try out first. I hope it is covered in my area.
Yes, and in the last year that I have had it, there have been two disruptions which were quickly resolved. Fantastic service too in my area with the support guys asking me to contact them directly instead of the call center and then retrospectively logging a complaint. That's fantastic service.

Re: How much do you pay for your broadband?

Signed up for ACT Broadband last week. Scheme name is ACT indulge costing Rs. 1349 per month with 25 MBPS speed and an FUP of 60 GB. Post FUB speed is 512 kbps. Paid a 6 month advance and got a free Cisco Wifi router and installation charges of Rs. 500 waived off.

Had been using BSNL till now (4MBPS). The internet seems to carry a lot of negative reviews about ACT. Looks like connection outage is the biggest grouse along with poor customer care. Speeds are really good. Hope I don't face outages.

Re: How much do you pay for your broadband?

Act has upgraded me to 15 mbps. No extra charges. Rs. 1180/- per month and 50 gb limit. Recently on speed test i got a speed of 40 mbps download & upload

Tried it for 3 days and was the same.

Now it's down to 20 mbps

Re: How much do you pay for your broadband?

My download is 4mbps, but upload is 0.5mbps which makes uploading videos/pictures and skype video calls a pain.
In Noida there is no alternative too. When will we get fiber!

Re: How much do you pay for your broadband?

Hi everybody.
After two and a half years of MTNL switched to Hathway.
Rs 599 per month for 10 GB. Speed 50 MBPS. After 10 GB is exhausted then unlimited but at 512 KBPS.
On the first day(Saturday) it conked off. Once again downtime for a short while the next day. However since then it has been working well. Getting speed of around 43/45 MBPS.We have 3 laptops logged on simultaneously and fortunately no reduction in speed.
Seems to be a good deal. Only hope it gives troublefree service.
Regards

Re: How much do you pay for your broadband?

Anybody using SpectraNet in Chennai?
The "contact us" page has Chennai address listed with no contact number.
The "Reach us" link for registration does not list Chennai.
Any other FTTH service in Chennai area with reasonable price? (< Rs.1000 per month)

How good is Airtel broadband ? I'm thinking of switching over from BSNL. The last time I checked (a year ago) I had no option other than BSNL!

If you work from home occassionally and it is critical to have uptime then go for Airtel.

Why don't you try spectra net or act. They seem to offer 5-10x bandwidth than Airtel?

Airtel is good. No downtime so far! Been using it for over 5 years in Bangalore. 8 MBPS speed, around 1350/- per month.

Thank you for the feedback. If Airtel is available i'll go with them. Uptime is important mainly because BSNL has been very good with little to no downtime at all,so don't want a downgrade in that.

Also, do you actually get 8 mbps in the 8 mbps plan ? I rarely get 3 mbps with BSNL

ACT called today and said service is unavailable where I stay (Vijay nagar). Looks like Spectranet isn't available either.

Re: How much do you pay for your broadband?

Youbroadband - Rs. 1,245 per month, 25GB at 12 MBPS. This is the only service provider who offers true broadband in Jayanagar 7th block, Bangalore. Airtel, ACT and the rest are at 512 KBPS. My landline goes out often, so not tried BSNL.

Yes i get almost full speed on 8 and now 16mbps when tested with speedtest.net. YMMV in real world downloads depending on latency.
