I'm using the MTNL TFIU (Telephone for Internet Use) Scheme B. Rs. 756 p.m. Its basically a telephone line with unlimited dialup access to 2488-0000. 48k line speed, no limits on hours or data or anything.

For about three years i was getting service from this one local cable guy, and he'd obtain his bandwidth from the other guys - DishNet, Hathway, Exatt and PaceNet. Dishnet was damn slow, Hathway was dog fast , Exatt and PaceNet were FINE but the uptime was like 60%. Ugh. The line would go down everyday and almost every night, and I'd be forced to use dial-up. So naturally I jumped to the MTNL TFIU line when they announced it.

MTNL Uptime (for the past four months) has been 94%, better than any other internet service I've used so far. YES, I stay dialled in for 24 hours a day and 7 days a week!

I was given this information leaflet on some new broadband service offered by a company called ExattNet.

I have never heard of this ISP before, but their rates seem really attractive.

5GB @ 256Kbps : Rs.800/month
500MB @ 1Mbps: Rs.575/month
Unlimited @ 128 Kbps: Rs.875/month

Has anyone heard of these guys before? Any comments on their service?

Well, i have DSL connection from Touchtel (Airtel). U guys wont believe it but this morn i got a constant 10MBPS for 7 secs downloading 70 MB within that period. I resumed download of 350MB best motoring file at 228MB and in 7 secs time it had reached 298MB!!!

Average daily download speed is around 13-17kbps. I pay around 790 bcks per month.

I recently Installed Hathway 256 KBPS at home. Rs.3000 for 6 months. 7 GB download limit for 6 months and no limit on uploads. 1.50 for extra MB. Modem rent = Rs.100/month. Installation charge = Rs.1000.

Hey Satish

Is it 7 GB per month or for the whole 6 months. Rs 500 pm for a 256K is pretty good. Download limits should go.
I use Asianet Dataline 64K with no download limits, costs me Rs 2400 for 3 months. Cannot afford any of their faster plans with download limits coz i download between 15 to 20 GB per month. Planning to shift to Dataone temporarily to avail their 256K unlimited downloads @ 500pm.

Touchtel ?ISDN = Rs 1000 pm includes 200 phone units + 1 gb download limit 256 kbps used to be 128 kbps + 500mb until BSNL broke the barrier. Service and uptime are pretty good

That is a good deal. But if you pay 3000 atonce, you get 1GB more download limit(7 GB) for six months.

Launching it? I figured if its out in the papers, it must be available already. Will speak to my cable guy and see what he's offering. Usually they offer slightly better deals.
