Re: How much do you pay for your broadband?

I have an Airtel connection, 90 GB @ 16 mbps + unlimited local / national calls for about Rs 1000.00 per month. Ookla test shows a speed of around 19 mbps.

Earlier it was 4 mbps and they said there was no possibility of enhancement. I said ACT was offering 60 GB @ 60 mbps for the same price, so could they kindly come and remove their connection. The very next day it was enhanced to 16 mbps, with a promise of further enhancement to 40 mbps in a few months, once they replaced the lines with OFC. But that was quite a few months ago, no change as of now.

this is the policy of airtel that I didn't like. I had them at 2mbps speed for 2 years and they refused to upgrade me after multiple requests. Then I took the plunge into Youbroadband cable internet at 12mbps. Was painful and forced them to get me fiber. Was with Youbb fiber at 40mbps for about 4-6 months, added Cherrinet briefly and finally now only with ACT for the past 8 months or so. ACT is great in my area and am on their 150mbps plan at about 2300 per month.

I live in Velachery. Already asked ACT to close the connection and paid for Hathway. Keeping my fingers crossed. If the service is bad may be will go back to ACT

Airtel 100 GB (plus 80 GB more for free) @16Mbps for Rs 1149 plus taxes. Speed is really good and I am satisfied with their service in our area.

Re: How much do you pay for your broadband?

I am about to upgrade to Airtel Vfiber (Fibre, Airtel, FibRE! Grrr ). At the moment I am on 8mb/second. Previously they came to upgrade and offered me only 12 and they sent them away. Now they are offering 24. But not 40.

Frankly, even 8 is enough for us, so the rest is luxury!

It has taken a while. Airtel customer service said that Vfibre customers in our area were getting frequent disconnections: they would upgrade us when the had fixed the problems.

This is either refreshing honesty from Airtel customer services or...

Anyway, we'll see how it goes.

Re: How much do you pay for your broadband?

Being in outskirts of Bangalore means not many service provider; you are at mercy of BSNL for wired broadband or 4G connections at "Unbelievable" price!

But all this changed last 4 months with our cable guy putting fiber network throughout layout. Now I am on 40 Mbps unlimited speed for 1099 plus tax! Yes, you read it right, No limit! No FUP! Ookla tests show consistent speed of ~41Mbps in both direction.

Re: How much do you pay for your broadband?

Very prompt response from Hathway. I applied for the new connection on 2nd May evening and the connection was up and running by 3rd May evening within 24 hrs. I would say so far they have exceeded my expectations. Hathway provided ZTE Modem + Router free and since I have a dual band Nighthawk Router the same was configured as wifi router. The speeds are good (150 MBps) and slightly better than ACT (90 MBps). Have to check for few days for consistency. So far it is good experience. Paying Rs.1150 per month is really cool for such data & speed.

Re: How much do you pay for your broadband?

Airtel increased my limit from 65 to 90 GB starting this month.

Jio broadband launch isn't far away and it's sure to shake up the market.

Re: How much do you pay for your broadband?

I use a local ISP called ibroadband, 30 Mbps totally Unlimited! Paying 10k for 6 months, Hardly any connection down time, Really impressed till now, Have used Tata & Airtel before but man i cannot live with a restricted download limit, Each Xbox one or ps4 game is around 50-60 GB! These local ISP's are really a blessing for me atleast.

I had Airtel Broadband for 3 years. I found them to be outstanding both in reliability & customer service. There used to be may be 2 outages in a year. And the technician used to land up within an hour always.

We used to be driven mad by BSNL. When we knew that Airtel guys were wiring our street we called sales and had our connection within a few days.

Airtel is one of those companies that built its business on reputation, and, having built it, threw it away: they don;t care any longer. Or, at least they didn't until Jio put them into loss.

But it is hard to change a company culture where daily reports have become more important than facts. I have, on several occasions, been told that my problem is closed when it has not not been dealt with. No, they can't reopen, the have to start a new call. Within 24 hours sir...

Their engineers on the street and at the door are great. No complaints at all. Even with long-running, intractable problems, they try hard and work long.

The call-centre staff probably have no choice. It probably is not a very nice job. But I have been lied to ("you told us your problem is fixed." etc) too many times to like the company. At one time, when the engineer, on yet another visit, gave me phone to talk to them I refused, just so they could not say that I told them anything.

Is it that bad? Not if you are lucky and get no problems. And not so much that I am not still using them, although it is only recently that I have had any other non_BSNL choice.

I'm still waiting for my upgrade. Yesterday a lady phoned me and said it will be done next week. It is not like a non-working system: I actually don't care when it gets done, next week, next month, whatever...

But don't tell them I said that!

150 mbps is good indeed in current scenario. Is your billing monthly or quarterly? In, Bangalore, they are insisting on Quarterly. Did you get your Welcome Letter with the Plan details. If not, insist on that.

In Bangalore, my friend is running around them for Internet Plan details. He's not able to register a complaint on their Website. And there's no reply to emails, not even acknowledgement. Phone call complaints are automatically closed without even resolving. Main issue is that, they are raising tariff after the 1st Quarter and that too irrationally.

Has anyone faced issues with Hathway, in respect to billing in Bangalore?

Re: How much do you pay for your broadband?

I have to commend Reliance Jio for disruting the internet business in India. Companies were truly exploiting customers before the Jio launch.

I have an Airtel Broadband. Till September, 16 they were offering just 20GB at 2MBPS and 512kbps thereafter @ ₹1199 that came about ₹1450 after taxes.
I called them up in September, they converted it to 2MBPS Unlimited at the same price.
I called them up yesterday, and they again upgraded my plan to FTTN 16MBPS for 160GB thereafter 1MBPS unlimited @ ₹1599 also gave 50% discount till next 6 months, so I have to pay ₹918 incl. of all taxes. Also, new modem was thrown in the deal free of cost.
Win win situation for customers I would say.
