Re: How much do you pay for your broadband?

This is the speed I get on my BSNL broadband at home, against a supposed speed of 4 mbps. Pay 900 Rs a month for this!

Re: How much do you pay for your broadband?

Quite a rip off considering the speeds now possible even on mobile phones.

The following is the speed I got on iPhone5 LTE in NJ.

But let's get back to India. I do get 4Mbps download on my Airtel 4Mbps line in Bangalore.

Re: How much do you pay for your broadband?

I get approx. 100- 300 kbps on Vodafone 3G connection . Cant imagine how nice would it feel to get something in the range of even 2 mbps. Samurai experienced 41.39 mbps ! wow.

Re: How much do you pay for your broadband?

Just called airtel and upgraded my home connection to 16 Mbps for Rs.1500/- per month (Without including the government's cut of course aka taxes) The download limit is at 60 GB but me thinks that should suffice for my usage.

Re: How much do you pay for your broadband?

Till recently I was paying 600 for 3GB Day & 10 GB Night through Reliance USB (it's a special plan - not available on the market). Now I need more day time stuff, so I changed to 10GB anytime @ Rs. 950. My workplace pays for it.

Speed test shows 1.3 Mbps Download & 0.3 Mbps Upload.

This looks very good - http://www.airtel.in/4g-lte/tariffs.html#4G
Only thing is that device costs are rather high.

Is this a Bangalore only plan? I don't see this on Airtel's site. I'm currently paying 1699 for 4mbps with an FUP of 75gb

Speed is 3MBPS and is very good compared to Reliance 3BMPS dongle which i used for over 2 years.

No idea about the fair usage which I assume is 5GB which is generally the practice.

Yes, Beam in hyderabad is very popular for their blazing speeds at super affordable prices. Their other schemes are :

10 MBPS for Rs.1000, unlimited
15 MPBS for Rs.1500, Unlimited
30BMPS for Rs.3000, unlimited

I think the fair usage policy is 5GB, 10GB etc which is a lot and more than sufficient.

At home using wifi i am connected on mulitple devices (home laptop, office laptop, Playbook, 2 Blackberry Phones) on same connection and can still watch a video seamlessly in 6MBPS connection.

So imagine the speed. It's simply awesome

Every client on the internet connection (in this case, 5net) is connected to all the clients who are using that internet service (5net) via a central server. That is what my understanding of a hub is.

Now, 5net has 40-50k users. You login anytime to the hub and you see 500-1000 users online and you can download everything that they have shared on the hub. Generally, 200-300tb of shared data is available anytime you login. So in simple words, you get everything there!

Yes. This plan and many other "Super speed at reasonable cost plans" are exclusively available in Bangalore. For some reason, I think Airtel loves Bangalore. But maybe because of the need to have high speed data for IT and ITES companies, some of this is passed on to Residential consumers as well.
I'm not complaining.

It's coz new FTTH players like ACT and You were offering similar plans and a lot of people were moving out of Airtel fast. I love competition

Re: How much do you pay for your broadband?

Using Hathway broadband in Hyderabad.
3Mbps unlimited. FUP of 20GB and 1Mbps after that.
Paid for 6 months in advance @ Rs4500 ... Turns out to Rs750/month

Re: How much do you pay for your broadband?

I got a new Tata Photon 3G dongle connection last week. 15GB for 1550/- a month. Previously I had Airtel 3G dongle and the offer was only 10 GB for the same price mentioned above. No doubt Airtel 3G was good but my usage increased drastically hence opted for Tata Photon 3G. The speed is good but I am unable to connect some times. Anyone using Tata Photon 3G dongle? How's the connectivity BTW?

Re: How much do you pay for your broadband?

I use a service called You Broadband in Bangalore. Pay 1100 per month and am promised a 15Mbps speed. I get about 12Mbps download speed and close to 8Mbps upload speed, which means I am getting more speeds than they promised.

These speeds stay for 40GB a month and then it drops to a measly 512Kbps. For my usage at home (which mainly involves surfing Team BHP), 40GB is quite sufficient.
