When a ISP promises a particular speed it is always the total bandwidth i.e uplink+downlink. In my case I am getting 12+8 which is ~20Mbps most of the time (sometimes even more).

Hmm. I have never seen speeds counted that way. The speed promised should be the download speed.

Switched to ttn broadband in Bangalore. 1100 including tax for a 10mbps line with a 50gig limit. The icing on the cake was a small Rs. 500 installation fee that includes getting a fiber optic line into the house plus installation of a modem. I had a wireless router of my own which I use to make this a wireless LAN.

Even I use the same. Awesome connectivity and speed. I consistently get around 9Mbps. Also till now no issues of connectivity.

Re: How much do you pay for your broadband?

Anyone facing problems with Reliance in Pune?

These days I get a lot of DNS errors.
The way to check for this is ping google.com and then ping the IP address of google.com.
There will be no ping from google.com, but the IP address works fine.

Needless to add that the customer care is filled with imbeciles ...

Is this service available all over Bangalore or only in specific areas?

I am not sure if this is available all over B'lore. I have actually seen it only in HSR L/O. Other members can help.

Re: How much do you pay for your broadband?

I signed up for a service provider called Spectranet. They provide the service through Fiber Optic (till society premises). The speed offered is 10Mbps till 16 GB. After this it gets reduced to something like 256 kbps. I pay 1099 + taxes.

Re: How much do you pay for your broadband?

I am looking for a broadband in mumbai Malad East for office Laptop Immediately. Any suggestions please?
  • I need real-time 1 MBPS at least. VPN is too slow in speeds less than 1MBPS
  • It has to be Broadband Cable (No Dongles allowed on Office Laptop)
  • I am okay with local providers (not specific about airtel, reliance etc)

Re: How much do you pay for your broadband?

Just renewed my Spidigo Wifi Internet yesterday. Paid 3565/- for a 6 month unlimited connection with 512kbps speeds by default and 1Mbps speeds from 9 pm to 6 am.

Spidigo has mixed reviews but from my experience it completely depends on how close you live to their connection towers. Obviously, the closer the better. I for one haven't experienced any problems with my connection except occasional downtimes for an hour or so once a month.

Overall, a good price for a decent wireless connection if you're living in Ahmedabad.

Tip: Make sure with the engineer and if possible physically verify from your terraces as to how distant are you from their towers. Only if the tower is visible without any major obstructions will you get decent connectivity.

Well, the conditions mention that after 16GB download, the speed could be between 256 kbps to 1Mbps. Last month when I exhausted the limit, I tested the speed using speedtest.net website. The speeds it was showing was 0.22 Mbps or 0.12 Mbps. I wished atleast youtube videos should run fine after the data limit but no, it was not working.
