Re: How much do you pay for your broadband?

Anybody has experience with Spectranet in Bengaluru ? I am really tired of Airtel with high rates for a substandard broadband connection. I am also experiencing downtimes which did not exist earlier. In my apartment the available wired options as of now are BSNL, Spectranet, Hathway and Tata Docomo. Among this I find the Spectranet Success plan (72 GB with 20/10 Mbps speed @1249) interesting.

I have been using Spectranet in Thane for past 5 months. Have a 20 Mbps connection. Very satisfied with their service so far.

I live in Pune and use spectranet. While they are good, I wouldn't give them 100% because, at least once a month, it is down for a day or two.

Also, the plan and the speed that you have mentioned is if you sign up for annual plan. Otherwise the same 1249 will get you 48 GB @ 16 mbps for monthly plan.

Re: How much do you pay for your broadband?

I read in the newspapers today that a fiber optic network is being laid throughout India (most of the states), and planned to be completed within a month. As per the news, high speed Broadband would be available at (almost) Cable TV charges after this is implemented. Any details on this?

Any contact number for Spectranet in Pune? Are their services available all over Pune City? Their plans look good.

I stay in Pune and I am using Tata Indicom wired broadband for past 2 years now. I pay Rs.1122 pm for 2Mbps connection with download capped at 20 GB. I have never faced any downtime while using their services.

Re: How much do you pay for your broadband?

Friends, any one using BSNL BBG Combo ULD 1445 (Upto 2 Mbps upto 20 GB, 1 Mbps beyond 20 GB) plan? Are you getting 1 Mbps consistently after 20GB is exhausted?

My current plan BBG Combo ULD 945 (Upto 2 Mbps till 8 GB, 512 Kbps beyond 8 GB) will be due for annual renewal in a month and was thinking of upgrading to 1445 plan so that I get 1 Mbps speed always instead of 512 Kbps.

Yep, I am using this plan with my BSNL Broadband. That said, I've crossed the 20GB FUP ceiling just once, and the speed was throttled to 512 kbps. Probably because that's the setting for my plan.

BSNL Broadband is pretty stable here in Chennai. Never had any issues with it

I too was about to post the same here.

In my house, we have 2 smartphones & one PC. How much data can they use? I mean I got BB unlimted for home purpose & despite paying, I am not getting promised speed. The speed dips on around 20th of every month.

I am not upgrading, instead I am writing to BSNL & PMO. Would urge you to do the same.

No, they are present in only couple of areas, I think. One is Pimple Saudagar area and other is I think in east Pune. May be you can check their website for areas and contact details.

I was using BSNLs 4Mbps plan then went to their 8Mbps plan. Their plan underwent 2 price hikes, removal of the 400 local mins free to any number and so I switched to Airtel 2Mbps 40GbFUP and Rs 999 per month. I also get 1000 mins local calls (any number) free every month. I find this very economical though am unhappy with the speed. My street that I live in is maxed out per Airtel and they are unable to give me 4Mbps...

They tried to feed exactly the same Bull Crap to me as well.

Disconnected them in a heartbeat, and shifted to ACT Broadband immediately.

60Mbps for 125GB FUP, per month only 1999. Eat your heart out, Failtel!

Here's a screenshot for reference

Yes I would switch to ACT too. However there is no coverage in my area. I have a second 12Mbps Cable connection - Youbroadband, but they are an embarrassment and best not spoken about...

I had similar doubts. But then I monitored the usage via BSNL website http://selfcare.wdc.bsnl.co.in/irj/portal

In my case, I am consuming 20GB within 10 to 12 days as children view rhymes and educational stuff a lot on youtube. Of course with automatic updates ON in PC and Mobile, all application get automatically updated and consume bandwidth too.

Agreed. These android updates are bandwidth hogs. Throw in a few HD youtube videos (esp with children) / lot of FB browsing and 8GB will just fly by in a week

/we have 8 mbps50gb for 2100 nett from airtel - we easily consume a GB a day even when I'm traveling 80% of the time and the wife doesn't download many sitcoms. The kid's few youtube videos / apps consume a lot of BW!
