And here I am paying 1200 a month for 1mbps when people have paid 12k a year for far far better unlimited connections.

I download a lot of movies, watch Youtube so any limited plan just doesn't work for me. A 2mbps at about 1-1.2k is what I really need.
Do you have DEN's Boomband in your area? I live in Rohini and have been using it for the past three months and I am completely satisfied. Earlier I was on their 10Mbps/30GB plan which costed Rs 1122/- a month. This month, the plan has been upgraded to 20Mbps/30GB for only Rs 1011/- a month. The speed drops to 1Mbps post FUP. Their speed is pretty good, with average speed on utorrent being 1.2-1.3 Mbps. Yes, once a month their server goes down for 2-3 hours or so, but they are much better than MTNL, which I was previously using.
My sister, who lives in Dwarka, uses Nextra's fiber broadband. Their advantage being that the upload speed is as good as the download speed.

OT - I need some suggestions for an annual 3G unlimited data plan. Does any carrier offer such services in the first place? If yes, what are my options and which one would be the best VFM in terms of heavy browsing and/or video streaming. I don't download much stuff.

Paying roughly Rs 970/month for 15 gb.

Post FUP speed drops to 1 Mb/s but additional data is not charged.

Have had it for a couple of months now and haven't experienced any downtime yet. Pretty happy with this after a decade of MTNL at 1 Mb/s

Please advise!
Howz 'You Broadband' service? We have options of 'ACT Broadband' or 'YOU Broadband' at JP Nagar, B'lore. I would like to move out of BSNL, into one of these.

Please advise.

I have youbroadband and it totally sucks. Works for a couple of days and goes down for many more. My current downtime is now 4 days and fixed for 3/4 hours today and conked out again. They close complaints without ever calling you and today after escalating to the chennai head, they fixed it at about 3pm but it stopped again at 7. I have two connections at home with the other being Airtel. That is how I am still in control of my mind

Re: How much do you pay for your broadband?

Got ACT 'storm' plan - 30 Mbps with 60GB FUP and 512 kbps after that. Rs.1149+taxes per month. My earlier connection was BSNL 4 Mbps with 20GB FUP and 1 Mbps after that for Rs.1500+taxes per month.

Speeds are consistently 30 Mbps upload & download. I am told only the download is considered for data transfer (FUP) and uploads are unlimited.

Some hiccups with the customer care. They will solve issues in earnest only after continuous follow up. Their helpline staff are quite good and understand issues. The ground staff need some improvements.

With my daily 4 complaints Youbroadband have decided to run fiber till my house and install a converter for me. I don't know if that will improve the stability of the connections but let me see if they actually do it. They claimed they will do the job today. So far I have been on their RG6 coaxial cable connection.

The Youbroadband fiber connection was installed today. However a twist is that they connected their termination switch in my house and powered it through a bulb socket on my building wall.
Want to know if others are having this situation too and if they get any credit for the electricity consumption and convenience etc

ACT told me if they install the junction box they would reduce certain fixed amount in the bill every month. I think it was Rs 50, but I could be wrong.

thanks! The 8 port switch box they attached was rated at 25w. It also had a chargeable battery as big as a UPS battery for a PC. The 25w translates to about 15 units a month and the battery charging maybe 5 units. That's 120rs a month. Not a big deal I guess. The messy wires are a different story though as they can wire 7 other houses from the switch at my house.

Re: How much do you pay for your broadband?

Just got Tikona Wireless Broadband installed at my house yesterday - I've chosen the 4MBPS Plan @ Rs.1250.00 per month for 50GB download quota. Let's hope it works well!

Re: How much do you pay for your broadband?

After 6 months of using Tata Photon WIMAX the speed has dropped from 2mpbs to .03mbps in AECS Layout/Brookfield in Bangalore.
As per Tata Photon AECS Layout falls in highly congested area (high number of users using internet service at the same time) and hence cannot help.
What are the other options other , How is Railtel , they have office in ITPL main road.

Re: How much do you pay for your broadband?

I am on youbroadband and my renewal was due in about 18 days. Logged in now and realized that they have given me 33 days of service credit. I have exhausted my usage limit and so am now FUPed at 1mbps for the next 50 days or so. I wanted to know if I renew my usage limit now for a 3 month 155Gb plan, will I lose these 50 days or will it be added up to my new 90 day payment and last me for 140 days? This is just my third recharge and I havent had this overlap before, hence the query.
