Re: How much do you pay for your broadband?

What I read on the internet is that BSNL is only upgrading the base plan from 512 kbps to 2Mbps at no extra cost. But beyond the prescribed FUP against any plan, the speed will continue to remain the dreadful 512 kbps.

Looks like there is a communication error in their campaign to woo customers by not disclosing the details post FUP.

We have a 512kbps Unlimited package back in my home town, we'll see how true is their promise on 1st Oct! I hope they don't introduce a 1GB FUP limit on our connection.

Re: How much do you pay for your broadband?

Any feedback on Tata Docomo wired broadband in Bangalore ? I'm planning on the Power 2 Mbps plan @699/- given my limited usage. http://www.tatadocomo.com/broadband-...ted-plans.aspx

My main use will be with my office VPN, so connection drops should be minimal.

Are you sure it is back to 1 mbps? From what I have heard, all BSNL unlimited home plans revert to 512 kbps after the FUP limit.

For those in Bangalore, I switched over to ACT with a lot of trepidation a few months ago after being a loyal BSNL customer for the past 8 years. I am happy with ACT, the speed is blazing fast at 30 Mbps, the FUP limit is higher (60 GB now upgraded to 85 GB after paying for 12 months) and surprisingly, their customer service is responsive. The last point is something I was most worried about as all these ISPs run their cables over people's houses and a cut causes an outage that used to last for weeks with Tata Indicom.

During the install, the ACT guy said that they buy their bandwidth from BSNL. Seriously, I don't know what BSNL is up to. I initially started off with a 512 kbps connection, then I was upgraded to 1 Mbps, but surprisingly I had no FUP for a long time. Then they enforced the FUP this year which meant that my 6 GB limit would extinguish in 3 days and I would spend the rest of the month being unable to watch any streaming data at all. I seriously hope BSNL is able to gain ground after losing customers willy-nilly like all those on my street.

Re: How much do you pay for your broadband?

Am on BSBNL's ULD 999 unlimited plan (8GB@4Mbps, reducing to 512kbps after that). I desperately need more speed but the 16 Mbps plan listed here costs a princely 2845 plus ST.

Have heard of other providers offering as low as 1600 for 50Mbps lines so was wondering why BSNL is ripping me off.

I moved to Airtel after being with BSNL for 7 years here in Bangalore. Airtel recently wired up our apartment and started providing fiber to home connection. Opted for 16 Mbps connection with 100GB at 1599+ taxes including unlimited free calls. Airtel has added 30 GB per month free as part of their Airtel surprise program.

It has been great so far and refreshing change from BSNL, which is frankly out of sync with changing times.

Hi
Call Hathway in Pune. In Bombay they have a 50 MBPS/15GB FUP and post that 512kbps.
I get around 37 MBPS through the wifi router.
Their customer service is not good.
Hope this helps

Currently I am on Airtel FTTH connection in Bangalore. I am paying 1700 for 40 MBPS fibre connection with 100GB monthly cap. Most FUP is 512 KBPS with unlimited calls bundled.

Re: How much do you pay for your broadband?

If you are in Bangalore, BSNL has introduced a new unlimited BB combo plan. 8 Mbps for 60 GB @ 1091 per month. 512Kbps after FUP.

It is an upgrade for me from 4 Mbps for 8 GB @ 999 pm. My son would use it in the first 10 days .

Re: How much do you pay for your broadband?

Recently took combo plan from MTNL at Chembur since I could not find any other service provider in this locality. The plan I opted for was 8Mbps/25GB at 1100 per month. Is there any other cheaper plan for 25-30GB of monthly usage, please advice.

I was at the customer service center for my mobile sim and chanced upon this plan. They have handbills too. Not sure about it being posted online. The handbill mentions that this is a limited time offer (available until Jan 2016).

I had to fill out a request/form available at the counter to change the plan.
