I am paying 1441 for 10 Mbps/ 25 GB. It's becoming increasingly frustrating dealing with BSNL because:
  • It's obvious they don't have uniform plans across the country. Look at the difference in rates between Pune and Traivandrum!
  • Support is pathetic. I am asked to go to the Bavdhan exchange (working hours only 10:00 am - 5:00 pm, weekdays) with a written complaint for any issue. If you call 1500/21982198 to complain, infuriatingly they only call that landline for follow-ups DESPITE having my mobile contact. Do these4 guys seriously believe I will sit at home all day waiting for their follow-up call?
  • Routine service requests take weeks. I had to escalate to PGportal on one occasion to get something as silly as a loose wire fixed after they dealyed for 2 months
  • Service is very choppy, though measured speed on Ookla shows around 3-7 Mbps. For example I cannot play a single video without it buffering every few seconds. Technical explanation seems to be some kind of intermittent packet drops. I have zero problems while streaming with my 3G Idea connection which is rated about the same speed.
  • I highly suspect that I am being overbilled. Our usage is not that high but typically we run out of bandwidth before half the month is over and are then prompted to purchase booster packs. When I complained, their glib explanation was that maybe someone is mooching off my Wi-Fi (improbable since I hardly get signal throughout my own apartment, in any case I change password frequently).
I almost migrated to YOU broadband last month but decided to give these guys one more chance. But it's still not working out. Am exploring packages from YOU and Spectranet and will probably go with one of those shortly.

1699+ taxes for Airtel broadband here. 80 GB + 20 GB (by bundling Airtel DTH and postpaid numbers under a home package - 5 GB per connection) @ 40 Mbps.

Have no reason to complain except that you have to regularly check if a better plan is available. The upgrade doesn't happen automatically.

Reading your experience, I feel like I am being pampered. I think you live in prime area of Pune still you have put up with this kind of service.

I am a Spectranet customer on their lowest plan of 799 + taxes for 20 mbps, 24 gigs plan. Post FUP, the speed is reset to 2 mbps. The thing is, our usage is never lower than 100 gigs with FUP limit getting over in 1 week. Still I find 2 mbps good enough for streaming youtube content and other browsing stuff. One more thing, this month I received an update from Spectranet that they are increasing the limit to 100 Gb for this plan. Not sure if same is reflecting on their website.

BTW, the service goes down 1 or 2 days a month due to cable cuts.

In Bangalore, they have recently revised their plans, looks like. For 1399 , you get 100 Gigs data at 40Mbps …for 1499 it's 120 Gigs and for 1599 you get 155 gigs

I am using a local operator called Airpath. I stay in Chennai in Porur area. This is a 25GB 2mbps plan for Rs.600/- per month. Speeds are pretty good and consistent. Now coming to the benefits:
1) This is a prepaid plan. So at the end of each month I have to NEFT the amount to the operator. I find this option good.
2) Since one of their "control boxes" is located on our terrace, a technician is never far. These chaps come to our building almost every day and complaint closure doesn't require more than an hour.

600/- per month. Broadband + Unlimited Data + Wifi.

Don't know the speed, but it's good enough for watching online videos.

Re: How much do you pay for your broadband?

Moved to local operate, pay 1399+ taxes for 40Mbps speed Unlimited (160GB FUP download limit, upload in not counted). The speed usually 40Mbps both download and upload. After FUP it goes to 4Mbps.

Airtel Delhi has always been more expensive. Perhaps they know that there are not a lot of good alternates here like ACT etc.

Re: How much do you pay for your broadband?

ACT, Chennai. have been with them for almost 4 years now. Good service and speed and proactive. After Cyclone Vardah they took a long time to get their act together and as a bonus they have upgraded me to 100Mbps and 175GB from 75 Mbps 100GB at no extra cost.

Another perspective of a BSNL user.

I am paying 1,370 for 2 MBPS unlimited connection with free national calling. Don't know about support of others as there are [still] no players with wired connection. Few players who provide connection with a satellite but none have lasted for more than an year.

Thanks to Jio effect, I was paying just short of Rs.1,100 for a 1MBPS, 8GB connection.

The telephone mechanic is very supportive, of course I tip him, but he never asks for it and based on complaint/s he either visits in the morning [on way to work] or while coming back. [Though one is supposed to call up & complaint, thank fully nothing in written]

Huge repulsion happens when something goes amiss where he can't handle. this is where I am at my wit's end.

Forgot to add. The package includes unlimited free calls to all mobile & landline networks, local and STD both.

The airtel mobile network is horrible at my place, so we have started using the landline a lot more after almost a decade.

Re: How much do you pay for your broadband?

Today ( 11th of every month) is the start of the billing cycle for Airtel and my usage should close to 0. However , I see my usage has not been reset and it's "stuck" since yesterday at around 40GB.

Anyone else facing this problem ? I called up Airtel but the customer rep was clueless and asked me to wait till tomorrow.

Re: How much do you pay for your broadband?

I am on the 999 per month- 40mbps, 50GB FUP per month plan with Airtel in Bangalore. Have been with Airtel for over 7 years now.
They had come up with an upgrade plan to Vfiber offering upto 50mbps from my current plan of 16mbps, by paying Rs.1000 for the new modem, which will be deducted in 5 instalments.
So far, I found the connection to be a bit unstable. Seems to go off almost once a week. I have to call their call center and they resolve it within a few hours. It seems there is some wire connection problem at some junction, which leads to continuous connection cuts. Its getting frustrating. Maybe its time to consider ACT which also provide high speed broadband in our apartment complex.

The reason why I stuck with Airtel is that they are quick to resolve issues and the landline is a good backup, in case someone is unable to reach our mobiles at home. This plan comes with unlimited STD and Local calling.

I also recently opted for the broadband surprises from Airtel, in which I got 20GB free additional per month. So now I get 70gb free per month, which is more than enough for my usage patterns. When it is working, the speedtest shows it is close to 25-30mbps, which is fine.

Re: How much do you pay for your broadband?

Rs.14,415 for 1 Year package of ACT

Bonus of paying 1 year upfront
1) 2 months free (ie, you'll get 14 months)
2) 25GB EXTRA free - net 75GB per month

So in effect, Rs.1029/- per month all inclusive for a 50mbps connection with 75GB FUP.
