Had Sify before...one word, PATHETIC! After every rain, server went down and no internet for a day or two. Finally hoped over to airtel, 2 years and not a single complain.

Had the 699rs plan (w/o tax) - 128kbps, unlimited...max dload speed 14kb/s

Now, i have the 999rs plan (w/o tax) - 256kbps, unlimited....max dload speed 32kb/s

In another month or two am planning to shift to BSNL, all are going gaga over it!

had a tata indicom 128 unlimited in ahmedabad, 700+tax. true 128 kbps speeds all through. six months, not one day of downtime. Very quick signup, same day connection was done as well - 11am call to helpline - 8pm I was downloading at 128 kbps

However, friends I recommended it to, in Delhi - had about 50% downtime, regular cutting of the wire and lethargy on VSNL's part to repair things - so excellent network, but wahi puraani VSNL service, methinks.

I use BSNL 900 plus plan with no rent for telephone and broadband 256 kbps unlimited. Comparing to lot of other packages by many brands, bsnl has very rare server issues and other technical drawbacks. I have friends who are subscribed to tata, airtel , cable and many others but most of them have regular issues including half of the promised speed missing. The recitification of technical issues are usualy faster with BSNL which is a big relief.

Had Sify since 2 years was left with only advice to offer, don't go with it if you don't have patience to stay offline for 2days after every rainfall. Presently with Rs.999UL 256KBps Airtel since Nov, getting speeds at 32-34KBps. I'm happy with the service.

Currently, I am paying Rs.850 per month for 4GB downloads @ 2Mbps. The ISP is YOU telecom ( suck at service, very fast in collection of payment )

Speed is not constant @ 2Mbps throughout the day but it averages out to about 1Mbps.
I guess its a good deal.

How much are you billed per month? With taxes included.

I have Airtel, 750 Plan, 2Mbps and 3 GB data transfer limit

Actual speed I get is 1 mbps on peak time and 1.5 mbps on odd times

Also I have Official Tataindicom Data Card, claims 144 kbps but gives much lesser, monthly rental 450 Rs. Paid by office.

To add more, I have GPRS, on my airtel connection (@ 99 Rs+Rental) for unlimited access, on cell as well as on Laptop.
