The legendary Suchitra Sen has passed on. (What a beautiful Lady she was!) She was the heartthrob of the Bengalis in the 50s/60s & 70s. I remember seeing Aandhi back in my college days (what a movie - great music and wonderful acting by Sanjeev Kumar & Suchitra Sen). My parents were huge fans of her back in my childhood in Calcutta.
I am sure that for lovers of Bengali films this must be a very sad day.

I read the sad news on TOI a short while ago.

She was possibly the finest actress in Bengali cinema. May god rest her soul in peace. Truly a sad day for Bengalis and the country at large.

She looked amazing in the movie.
One of the rare movies of that time when the hero and heroine do not live happily in the end and neither of them dies.
Another one of her movies was Mamta where she played a double role.

My uncle had a LP record of the songs of that movie - it said this was the first double role for a Bengali actress in a Hindi film. The song from that movie is apt here
